Ive been a huge Alice In Chains fan forever. ONE of my first albums was Dirt which I bought when I was around 13. I also recently bought their new album "Black Gives Way To Blue".

I hear some people call Alice In Chains a Sludge Metal band, do you disagree?

The only time I would really classify them as sludge metal would be during moments on their third cd. Especially during "Sludge Factory."

Alice In Chains is Grunge but I admit that they have Stoner and Sludge influences.

Saw these guys again on the Rock Werchter festival two weeks ago in Belgium. They blew me away again. What a power and so many great songs. You really have to dig the slow solid grooves but if you do it's absolutely amazing. They sounded very coherent and tight. One of the best performances of the weekend.

My fave album by them has to be Jar of Flies just because it shows there musical diversity. I mean they went country for Rotten Apple, I Stay Away, and No Excuses. Also, I adore the jazzy vibe on Swing on This

I would always have considered AIC grunge, but definitely the heavier / more metal side of it.... I'm really not even sure what "sludge metal" is... attack of the genre titles again!

I guess Sludge Metal would be a cross between grunge and metal? Who knows. I get all kinds of mixed up with genres. Damn, scottsy, you're blowin' the sight up this morning.

I like how hard it is to find someone who has anything negative to say about AIC.... good sign of a really great band.
