Emperor
Never much cared for Emperor. They are the ones responsible for putting the idea of all this 'symphonic Black Metal' wussiness out there. Like they themselves are not wusses, but they helped to spawn non-sense like Cradle of Filth.

Wolves in the Throne Room
This is a local band from here in the Pacific Northwest. There are just not that many Black Metal bands around here, so it is easy to remember the ones that are actually around here. There are alot of Death Metal band though, which kinda' sucks because I dislike that genre.

I worship the King and all... but is constantly singing in a falsetto voice really 'heavy'?

Still...

Ya' know I like Black Metal and all (I am half-Norwegian...) but just could never get into this whole symphonic thing. I like that Emperor had like their own ideas and stuff regarding Satanism and stuff but I just never cared for their style... Why would I when someone can just listen to like Mayhem and Darkthrone instead? (Who I consider to be the best two Black Metal bands)

i just love the sound of the Norwegian cheese-whiz black metal

when you put it at a low volume, it's just some weird background noise for your own discordant thoughts

Apparently Celtic Frost broke up because of band issues, not because they just didn't have anymore ideas. So after Celtic Frost broke up Tom Warrior formed Trypticon. Thank Jebus.

I would chuck a few extra bands on the list in no particular order:

Acid Bath
Psycroptic
Five Star Prison Cell
Limbonic Art
Naglfar
Daysend
Anata
Amon Amarth
Cirith Ungol
Fates Warning
Angel Dust
