Worst Songs by Good Rock Bands

Hi. We don't know if this has been covered, or not. This is our first post in this forum (and obviously we don't care).

So here goes:

Aren't you amazed at what unabashed garbage is recorded by some decent bands? What the hell is their deal, anyway! Here's what we want to know. What are the absolutely worst songs in Rock, done by really good bands?

Just to start things off, we have some obvious ones that most people have probably heard.

1) Hot Dog - Led Zeppelin
Probably the worst song in Rock and Roll done by the greatest band in history.

2) The Ice Cream Man - Van Halen
God, what absolute crap! David should have his fingernails slowly pulled out for that!

3) Shiny Happy People - REM
What the hell where they thinking? I just threw up a little in my mouth.

We really want to know what your thoughts are on this. Let it rip.

Peace, Subcitizen

Pre GREEN R.E.M is amazing stuff.

Gates_of_Iscariot 12-07-2007 07:57 PM

My World - GUNS AND ROSES.
Axl trying to strut his stuff, doesn't seem to ensue pleasure for the old drum and anvil.

TheCaster 12-07-2007 08:11 PM

dangit you took them all

mine where my world, hot dog, and ice cream man

You could have had any Aerosmith song post 1989 and it would be a valid choice.

But that one?

boo boo 12-08-2007 06:39 PM

*Waits for Urban to pick bands best songs as their worst.*

under 12-09-2007 07:30 PM

Goodnight Kiss - Dream Theater

i think its a good song with the piano and bass. but the singer tries to hard to put emotion into it.

Oh god, here we go. It's so easy to hate and leave the proving to others. Crowquill, who would you consider a generally good band then, and why?

I'm not saying it's as good, I'm saying it's not bad.

With his 14,000 or so posts, Crowquill has proved a fair amount.

Robert Plant couldn't sing. Jimmy Page couldn't write a riff to save his life so he stole them instead. There's a reason Bonham is dead and who the hell was their bass player again? Thank you and good night, a good band is The Ramones and why? Because they rocked harder than Zeppelin ever did.

The indie kids definition of a bad singer.

"Singing with effort and not sounding like a total pussy."

Yet another one of your blanket statements based on absolutely nothing.

OMG. Their songs don't all sound the same. GHEY!!!

sleepy jack 12-10-2007 11:25 PM

Blitzkrieg Bop will always piss all over Stairway to Heaven.

boo boo 12-10-2007 11:28 PM

I like Ramones, but they don't touch Zeppelin in any way.

And Stairway to Heaven >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Blitskrieg Bop, and there are better Zep songs than that anyway.

O'Bannion 12-11-2007 12:10 AM

Goddamnit do I ****ing hate Led Zeppelin.

boo boo 12-11-2007 12:11 AM

You're gonna fit in here nicely.

I agree with you on that one. I mean I can tolerate a few songs from them but I don't get why everyone creams themselves over Zepplin.

John Paul Jones , and his talent was totally wasted in a cock rock band.

He did a fantastic album with Diamanda Gallas

jackhammer 12-11-2007 01:32 PM

I also liked The Mission and JPJ produced Children.

Am I the only one who finds it very ironic for an AC/DC fan to keep dissing a band by calling them nothing but a c*ck rock band?

Which is not even true, by the way.

true, but Stairway is nowhere near their best. I actually only really like stuff from Zeppelin II.

I would consider New York I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down possibly the worst song by a great band (LCD Soundsystem).

Or maybe The Ballad of John and Yoko by The Beatles (all John).

I liked it ^_^

DOA by Foo Fighters and The Gloaming by Radiohead.

Dizzys in the wolf 12-12-2007 08:19 AM

Led Zeppelin were not simply **** rock.. what about all of their Folk songs and things like that?

On the contrary.

I would suggest me being an AC/DC fan would suggest I know a cock rock band when I see one.

Dude, your so funny. There's no way to scientifically prove any of this. You can only like an artist for more objective criteria. But to say the Robert Plant can't sing is a joke. He could, and very well. That leaves me to ask you, for someone obviously interested in singing, do you think that Joey Ramone is a good singer? Yikes.

Jimmy Page could write a riff, are you kidding? Why is then he's considered a God by most guitarists (whom obviously know a thing or two about guitar playing) and known mostly for his incredible riffs?

Bonham is dead cause he liked to party, not because he was a bad musician. Are you kidding, he's probably the biggest influence in Rock drumming, ever. The man was innovative, unique, and could play like a mother ****er.

John Paul Jones, was usually in the background of some amazing artists. He's still an amazing player, writer, and composer.

I like the Ramones too. And they rocked hard. But is that you're criteria for a good band. Twisted Sister, Asia, and Triumph rocked hard, are they good?

Later Man.

You think Joey Ramone is a bad vocalist? How? He has a great voice which is more than can be said for Robert Plant's annoying wailing.

Too bad he wasted his time in Zeppelin.

I didn't even list any criteria, what are you talking about?

Kevorkian Logic 12-13-2007 01:50 PM

God, Blitzkrieg Bop, I hate that song so much.

And I don't even consider Zeppelin to be a c*ck rock. An influence on it obviously. But calling them just a c*ck band is absolutely untrue.

So your point here is.

Mumbling in a hilariously phoney british accent with no real effort > singing with a powerful voice.

But da Ramones are good cuz they music has passion in it.

You do realise that sounds absolutely nothing like Stairway to Heaven. Right?

The guitar part they're talking about isn't even in the same ****ing key, ITS NOT EVEN THE SAME GODDAMN NOTES.

You're calling a Zeppelin ripoff based on the minute long intro of a 7 minute song sounding kinda (but not really) like a guitar part from a song that beyond that sounds absolutely nothing like the song at all.

You need to stop this. You're getting beyond ridiculous and beyond desperate. You said it yourself that your Zeppelin trolling is annoying.
