For all the bands mentioned in this thread I really listened to My Bloody Valentine, Spacemen 3, Jesus and Mary Chain, Loop, Ride, Slowdive. Some of the others I didn't quite get into and many I've never even heard of. So, this thread was very interesting. I've never heard of 7% Solution, but that kind of music really suits my taste. Also, I like the kind of music that is labeled here as 'ambient shoegaze', but I always thought of it as post-rock or space-rock. I used to listen a lot to Jessica Bailiff - Even In Silence (1998) and I don't know if you would call it ambient shoegaze or post-rock. I always felt it was more in the vein of Labradford, but more dreamy.

Hey man, if you like Jessica Bailiff then you'll love Flying Saucer Attack. I'd Start with "Further" as it's considered as one of David Pearce's masterpeices.

^^^Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check them out. I've heard of them, but never really listened. I thought they were more on the trip-hop side.

I'm surprised the Japandroids haven't been mentioned here. They released one of my favorites from last year. I guess the best way to describe these guys is "garage shoegaze". Their lyrics aren't anything too complex, but damn is Brian King creative on guitar. They are also strictly a two piece...drums and guitar. These are from their album Post Nothing, really addictive stuff...

I'm not sure of this, but I believe no one has mentioned Blind Mr. Jones yet.
They're not your typical shoegaze band, and I must admit I was rather befuddled when I started hearing flutes admidst a sea of wavy guitars and distortion, but their first album Stereo Musicale is a great listen overall. The flutes really take the songs somewhere, it's amazing.
Atleast I found it amazing, I can understand if others don't.

UB, I especially liked "Small Caravan," by Blind Mr. Jones. The song has a feeling of sweeping power.

I first learned the definition of shoegaze music from you and Anteater, I believe, and find that I enjoy quite a few songs in this subgenre.
