I enjoyed the album. It isn't my favorite. It seemed almost as if they were trying to hard to achieve the sound they had from "And Justice for All".

I only liked old Metallica. Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning, ...And Justice For All, and Master of Puppets. At that point the band just went to sh*t. By the way, I know a lot of people like the Black Album, but why? I personally thought it was pretty bad, couldn't even compare to their earlier stuff.

Apparently, this album is meant to be absolutely amazing, or so I've heard from reliable sources.

The timing is meant to be dead on, and James and Kirk are in perfect sync, so I'm definently getting a copy of this soon.

Thoughts?

The music, i guess wasn't bad, but, they used the same old washed up riffs they used ten years ago. Also, the vocals are considerably worse...

Kirk and James have always been in synch in my opinion so nothing new but yes, I would agree with that.

Id check it out, just don't expect Kill Em All - ...Justice era Metallica. If you dont expect that and judge it as new Metallica then you might like it.

It is a rather boring album, I must say.

No offence, you may be quite right about it being boring - I, after all, haven't heard it at all - but would you care to elaborate on why you hold that opinion??!

Well, scottsy, I guess you could say it's a decent metal album.
I haven't really listened to St. Anger, but I trust that Death Magnetic is far superior.
It's just that the songs are all very long, and they kinda sound similar. The music just sort of blends and fades away if you're not paying attention. Also, the lyrics aren't outstanding, and stuff just gets repetitive and monotonous.
I do love The Day That Never Comes, though.

Thanks, I was considering maybe possibly buying it at some stage, but I am hearing some very mixed reviews, from both other posters and in the print media.... so I am indeed very wary and cautious of Death Magnetic...
