I have to say as a fan of guitar virtuosos and a fan of many different styles, I can reliably come back to Paul Gilbert's solo on Yellow Matter Custard's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".

I dubbed it "While My Guitar Gently Sweeps"

Early Chicago were a great band of which the above song comes from! The bad rap the group gets, largely comes from their formula style ballad songs that became radio staples throughout the 70`s and 80`s. Most people seem to forget, that they were initially a great rock band. Its was actually a great loss as they were 1st rate musicians and Pete Cetera a great vocalist.

25 and 6 to 4 was a solid track by Chicago, but that's about all I know. Luckily I downloaded a few early albums... now just need to listen to them.

What`s interesting is that their first three albums were double albums, could be some kind of record there for a new group! Double albums at that time were normally reserved for well known and proven artists.

This is a memorable and popular solo of its day. Not me on guitar, but its good tone, feeling, and a nice solo.

I really love the guitar solo in Metallica's Blackened.
