'94 would be '...and the circus leaves town'. personally i like it but there's some filler on it. first and last tunes effing rock ('hurricane' and 'spaceship landing' respectively)

but yeah, definitely not the best place to start.

Boston- More Than A Feeling (Obligatory solo is obligatory solo)
Tenacious D- Master Exploder (Joke solols are unfeeling wankery)
:stupid:

Despite the fact that most of those solos are nothing special, the egregious errors were killing me. Fixed.

Crazy Train brought nothing interesting to the table that hadn't been done already. The tapping's a little exciting, but all of the non-tapping parts of the solo are bland at best. It's a great song, but not because of the solo.

And Free Bird is wankery. I like wankery, but it doesn't make up the best solos, and how does it fit the song's theme AT ALL? They could have made the solo 2 minutes long and it would have been far better off.

So no, I'm not retarded. I just love to rip on a list of the most obvious picks for great guitar solos ever.

Now HERE'S a solo.

Is year 2009 the combined year of the troll and spammer? The year is only a week old and it's driving me nuts already.

Jeff Loomis' solo in "Psalm of Lydia" by Nevermore. Astounding.

petrucci has incredible solos. hammett's from the first four tallica albums were good, had a nice improv feel to some parts. theres too fing many. i've written solos that i thought were pretty good, and a million nobodies have written great solos.
