S&M is a fantastic record. It filled a hole I think inbetween fairly sub standard or poor Metallica releases.

Its funny that in that era their best album was a reinterpretation of their older material for the most part... shows ya where the fanbase probably mostly prefers...

The opening, the main riff. Too good. Then, it got to 2:35. God damn I hate that part of the song and play it forever. It's so damn boring. I was pumped up, then I'm like "Is this ****ing song ever going to end" It felt like 10 minutes long. If you really want I can give you more instances of Metallica syndrome. It's also on the earlier albums, but acceptable to a certain extent. Maybe "hate" wasn't the right word. More like it's Ok, but I don't think it's anywhere near as good as I make it out to be. Also, thy seem to add extra unnecessary part to the song to make it longer. I'm looking at you Shortest Straw.
Man has my view changed. THis album is MUCH MUCH better than MoP. It length doesn't really bother me all that much anymore and every song is ace esp Dyer's Eve. But like every Metallica album (except RtL) it has that one awful song. I think it's called To Live is To Die or something. Also does anyone seem to think Lars just does random bass pedal on some of their thrash songs?? It seems like it to me at least.

It's good even high quality in places... except that kerfuffle over sound oveproduction... but I don't think it's better than MoP... it does have tendency to sound quite samey, the same way, ironically that St. Anger does, of course using a different sound...

My criticism of them is mainly that they have started to repeat themselves too much...

There was fantastic use of "For Whom the Bell Tolls" in Zombieland at the beginning of the movie. Most enjoyable.

Default metallica album is # 1!

clearly there alot of fans Of Metallica. How many have this album?

Metallica`s self-titled album aka `Black` album has sold just 3000 more units than Shania Twain`s `Come On Over` to become the biggest selling album of the SoundScan era.

Black' has now sold 15,490,000 units since 1991 according to Nielsen SoundScan. ?Come On Over' has sold 15,487,000.

With just two more weeks of sales figures to go until the end of the first decade of the 21st Century, Shania or her label Universal could easily go out and buy up a few thousand copies to end the decade in front. Will they?

Metallica's 'Black' has on August 13, Shania Twain 'Come 1991. On Over' was released on November 4, 1987. SoundScan started tracking sales on March 1, 1991.
