Frantic, My World, St Anger and Some Kind Of Monster are all great songs. The others are not very good.

So, are James' vocals shot for good, or is he just singing like a talentless country singer on purpose? IMO, the vocals were the biggest problem with Death Magnetic. Although I still like that album.

I listen to them all the time, and even took the liberty to learn to play most of their songs on acoustic/electric. Fun stuff

Their songs are addicting. Vocals, guitar, drums, it's all good. What else is there to ask.

His vocals have been shot for quite some time now, maybe Metallica should recruit Matt Heafy or one time Corrosion of Conformity singer Karl Agell.

Now, I dig me some Trivium when I'm in the right mood. But Matt Heafy's polite but characterless screaming vocals, his snore inducing Hetfield wannabe growls, and his emo singing have no place on a Metallica record. Just, no. If James' vocals are that far gone that they have to get someone else to do them, then they should just break up.

He does seem polite compared to James Hetfield, but as you say maybe they should split up because James Hetfield certainly doesn`t have a durable enough voice for the type of music that they play anymore.

I thought Death Magnetic was awful. St. Anger was just as bad.

naw. Death Magnetic was an improvement. Not a big one, but it is better than St. Anger.

I always preferred Pepper's vocals to Karl's. From what I saw in the Some Kind of Monster dvd, he tried out on bass and seemed to have some kind of relationship with the band. Maybe he would be a good fit? Just spitballin' here

Karl sounded great on the "Blind" album but it was very Metallica influenced. When Pepper took over on vocals, he gave COC their more unique sound through the incorporation of southern rock influences, which are very evident on all their releases since Blind starting with "Deliverance". He`d actually be a very good replacement especially since he`s a guitar player and Karl isn`t.
