Have a desire to find some new, awesome metal bands. Whatever that means to you, gimme some recommendations.

Power metal need not apply, by the way. Black metal I'm quite iffy on.

Please and thank youse.

So how knowledgeable are you? I don't know whether or not you already have a working knowledge of metal or not.

I'd say I'm fairly knowledgeable. I have a working knowledge of the history of metal and some of the big/important bands in most of the subgenres. I'm just fairly out of touch of what is new and actually good.

I like what I'm hearing in the sludge/prog metal scene right now, though.

Not at all! I'm open to tons of things, I'm just not huge into power of black metal. If you have anything that will blow my expectations away in either genre feel free to suggest them.

But didn't you accuse them, of sounding like a bunch of drunk guys trying to play their guitars.

Wow, definitely liked what I heard there. I'm listening to Dwellings on Grooveshark right now. They kind of remind me of Coroner, who I love, so that's a good thing. Thanks for the suggestion!

They're alright. I'm more of a Mastodon, Baroness, Torche, Electric Wizard, Stonecutters kinda guy, when it comes to sludge.

And for those who don't know, Stonecutters is an EXCELLENT sludge band that's local to the Louisville scene. They tour around with a lot of big names in the metal world, I highly suggest checking em out.
