Clean = non-screaming/growling/distorted

If that's what you're looking for, then you're SOL. The vocals are one of the hallmarks of the genre, and that's just how it is.

like im trying to listen to burzum and everything sounds cool--i think they have xylophone in there?

but the vocals take me out of it.

I wish they had some melvins-type monotone over these sounds

There was a band out of San Diego called "In Every Breath" I think they've broke up a while ago, but I still rock out to their stuff.

Yeah, I've learned to appreciate growls/screams, and if they're not doing that sort of singing, basically it ain't death metal. It's like looking for prog metal without keyboards or avant-garde metal without weird noises. That sort of singing style defines the subgenre.

Jimmy Page

Jimmy Page OBE talks about his incredible career and influences. As well as his encyclopedic knowledge of music he also has an incredible memory about the many sessions he performed for the likes of Van Morrison and Them, The Kinks, The Who and Shirley Bassey.

Jimmy also guides Johnnie through his work with the Yardbirds and his friend Jeff Beck and the initial plans, with John Entwistle and Keith Moon, to form a supergroup that would, in the words of Moon, go down like a lead balloon, with Pete Townshend at least.

Jimmy talks about the infamous concert tours, recent reformation and classic recordings of Led Zeppelin and his friends and co-founders Robert Plant, John Bonham and John Paul Jones.

BBC Radio 2 - Johnnie Walker Meets..., Jimmy Page

Good listen. Worth 2 hours of your time. :)

Any fans of Solstafir? I love their style and would like to find similar music, particularly to their album "Otta".

Otta was one of the best albums of its year.

Looking for a similar style to Meat Loaf albums, Bat, Welcome to the Neighborhood, Dead Ringer, etc.

Why you asking me? I don't listen to Meat Loaf.
