the recent spate of posts is making this all off-topic

so to rein it back, anybody know of any other bands like later Paradise Lost? i mean ethereal melodies, tasty synths, almost dancey rhythms

Can someone recommend me some bands that sound like this? I mean, not bands similar to Eluveitie in general, but bands whose music sounds similar to this particular Eluveitie song?

I listen to a lot of the old death metal and now after hearing it a few times, just loses impact to me.

Slowly I lose more and more interest.

Thats the problem, if you`re going to listen to just one type of music constantly you will get bored with it. I listen to all types of music besides metal and the constant variety of what I listen to keeps stuff fresh.

Listening to old death metal is probably the last thing you should be listening to if you want variety. Even in metal especially on the lighter and melodic side you`ll find a lot more variety.

Eh? Why is macho bad? Considering the demographics of metal, it makes sense and it's at least sincere. Really, I'll take the bands that wear masculinity on their sleaves over horse**** like "Wolves in the Throne Room" who call themselves "Eco-Feminist", despite the fact that they're all dudes.

The problem is it is not genuine, it is bullsh*t posturing. The majority of metal is all substance over style, and image based music, and mostly just soulless wank.

I was kind of curious why you even bother posting in the metal forum? I mean it's just meaningless BS. Also your contracting yourself.."metal is all substance over style" ? So metal is substantial, no?

Can anyone recommend any good metal dvd's? There don't seem to be many good lists out there on the internet...

Gorgoroth, "Black Mass Krakow 2004" is pretty neat. Not the best of Black Metal bands, but a good show.

Your listening to the wrong stuff then. Most metal i hear doesnt even have wanking anywhere within it. Hell for a while metal bands refused to even play solos. Thank god that changed.
