I've just been burned too many times to ever believe that a Tool album will come out in my near future. They were projecting that it'd be out as early as 2013.

Yes but the lawsuit is over. They won. Now they can concentrate. Plus I am feeling it.

Meh, excuses excuses. I'll be stoked when (if) it comes out though.

Neurotripsicks 04-21-2015 05:21 PM

Same. Quick 9 years though eh?

It was nearly the same amount of time that we waited for 10,000 days to come out. They've had photos of studio production posted. I am completely certain the album is coming. Every single album TOOL put out, has been worth the wait to finally receive it. Same will happen with this album.

By contract, they have one more album to put out. Honestly, I think TOOL are smart to make people wait, because look at how much discussion is happening about it. They're already getting loads of people talking about them, just imagine the attention they'd get if they do release an album. It's good marketing imo.

It can also sets people up for disappointment. Too much anticipation/hype and we'll get something that sounds like...Tool. I like Tool, been a big fan since Undertow, but I wouldn't mind if their sound evolved more. What would Tool sound like if they released their first album today? I'm also always curious what they would sound like if they weren't so anal and "spit albums out" a bit more frequently, talking themselves less seriously. In 2015/2016, I'd probably enjoy that type of Tool album more than I will anything that sounds like a "natural progression" from their 9 year old previous album. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure I'll enjoy it as much as 10,000 Days, but let's be honest...that one was a little stale already. I'm just hoping for something fresh from these guys. They were a huge influence on a shitload of bands in the 90s and I hate for their new material to sound just like that.

If Tool released something like Opiate I'd be way happier than if it sounded like any of their other records. Hands down their best work.

I'm sure it will be amazing. I hope Carey uses his tabla on it.
