In terms of technical ability, i consider these the 5 most skilled drummers in rock.

Niel Peart
Danny Carey
Bill Bruford
Carl Palmer
Michael Portnoy

Off of the list, the Moon. But in general, jazz drummers are way better than rock drummers. Buddy Rich or Dave Weckl is probably the best of all time, but Elvin Jones might be my favorite.

Moon and Bonham without doubt 1 and 2 in whatever order, but what about other british and Irish drummers.
