I went with Megadeth. Cause of "Rust in Peace" is probably the best album to come out of all 4 of these... "Ride the Lightening" would be a very close second though.

Slayer, mixed for me. "Reign In Blood" is mainly filler besides the book end songs.

Anthrax, never beent hat into them. They have a few great songs, but always my least favorite of the big 4. I always thought they should be replaced with Testament.

Megadeth has more variety to me, good guitar work. I personally find people make to much of a deal out of Kirk Hammett...

Kerry King, his solos are usually just okay, while I think Jeff is the one does the better stuff.

But "Rust in Peace" between Mustaine and Marty Friedman, they came out with great stuff.

Megadeth
Slayer
Metallica
Anthrax

It should be pointed out that Dave Mustaine was in Metallica when their sound was forming. Kirk Hammett joined when they were recording their first album and James Hetfield was still learning the guitar. Dave Mustaine is responsible for the initial Metallica sound.

Death Magnetic besides being a return to their roots is one of the best albums in their discography and a classic metal album of the 00`s
meh, DM sounds like an updated And Justice For All to me, not to say it's bad but one of their best? no no no

i like St. Anger beter but that's just me

Death Magnetic was awful. Last great album for me was "Master of Puppets".

Oh, I am aware. I still think Megadeth was the best of the group. When looking at discography as a whole.

Slayer is probably my favorite of the 4 though, "Seasons In the Abyss" is high in the top albums by all these bands.

While many people will go with "Reign in Blood" with Slayer, I don't. The album to be was great for the book mark tracks, but everything in between doesn't match up and feels like filler to me. I would pick "Seasons in the Abyss" or "Show No Mercy" over it.

Rick Rubin has a way with f*cking up most everything he does. I like the work he did with Johnny Cash, especially on the first "American Recordings" album.. but that was not difficult, just a studio and a mic in a house, was personal and some of his best work.

But with "Death Magnetic", I can't help but feel when i listen to that album that the effert of just too little, too late.. feels forced to me. It strikes me as an album that was made just to try and stop the old fans from bitching about them selling out.

It just doesn't feel genuine to me, and the material suffers from that.

It was a good attempt to try and go back to the roots, but it just didn't feel like they were all that into it for me. Of course, it is better than "Reload" and "St. Anger" though... I think "Load" had a few decent moments.. if looked at for what it is and not held to what they were doing before.

Is King Diamond thash? If he is then he needs to be mentoned.I love speed metal but due to the Punk infuence it is limited. This is not true with King Diamond. His vocal range and duel guitar attack is more like Maiden or Priest.
