I came in here to see the 4 bands.. I'm kinda surprised tbh. How are metallica and slayer even in the same genre? I'm not familiar enough with the other 2 bands to draw any conclusions.

Listen to the first three albums from Metallica and you will understand why. (Kill Em All, Ride the Lighting, & Master of Puppets) They are generally regarded as the pinnacle of thrash metal.

These were also all recorded Cliff Burton, Metallica's first bassist who had a lot of influence in the direction of the band. After he passed away they slowly sold out & went soft.

For Megadeth listen to Peace Sells Whose buyin, if you can't get into that you probably won't like Megadeth.

Anthrax, I've never been a fan, but the Bring the Noise single with Public Enemy, and the Persistence of time album are worth checking out.

From someone who likes them, check out Anthrax's Among the Living and State of Euphoria.

Persistence of Time is alright, but it's like their And Justice for All: some good songs, some filler, and a desperate need for editing. And unfortunately, the high points aren't nearly as high as AJFA.

Can't disagree with you there, but DwnWthVwls is coming from the world of hip hop, and that Anthrax album is defiantly one of their most commercially accessible releases.

As a causal fan of both metal and hip hop, I can honestly say if he throws on Among the Living he will probably be bored out of his mind. It may be revered in the metal community as Anthrax's crowning achievement, but there isn't a song that leaps out at me like Got the Time. I find the whole album to be really dull honestly.

Then he should listen to Spreading the Disease. If he can't take the goofier excesses of '80s metal, then he's not gonna like Anthrax anyway, and that's definitely their most accessible album. And it has that song off GTA: Vice City he's probably already heard about a million times.

Ok, so I went back and listened to some of that stuff (haven't heard in 10-15 years), now I see it. I remembered Slayer being heavier/more death metally than that.
