Metal Connoisseur 07-05-2011 09:10 PM

word..

I can respect them for eventually maturing enough to ditch the corpse paint but musically they don't really do anything for me. I take my black metal chased with some other genre of music, definitely not straight.

While I don't like Varg's views, his music is actually pretty good.

I can't stand Varg's music and his views suck. But for some reason he's incredibly interesting.

METALLICA_RULES 07-06-2011 07:18 AM

Well, I'm not that into Black Metal, but I found his music alright for Black Metal. He is indeed interesting.

Howard the Duck 07-06-2011 07:37 AM

i've only listened to Emperor and Darkthrone

both are pretty great

word up!

Metal Connoisseur 07-06-2011 09:52 AM

The whole culture of Black Metal I find to be interesting even though I'm not a big fan of music itself. I've been meaning to watch a documentary called "Until the Light Takes Us" which is a documentary concerning the whole scene in Norway during the early 90's. Darkthrone's "Transylvanian Hunger" to me is old school black metal in a nutshell. Low production value, excessive tremolo picking, and indecipherable screeched vocals.
