Default The Blue Nile

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum. I've done some searching around and I haven't found any threads to do with The Blue Nile, arguably one of the most underrated bands of all time. What do you guys think of them?

I am pretty sure that one of their albums was one the first C.D's off the block in the 80's but for some reason or another never checked them out

I'm really digging the album Hats at the moment, I've yet to get around to A Walk Across The Rooftops. I love the whole feeling that the album gives you, a really late-night melancholic feel that's deeply moving and I don't think I've ever really come across an album like it before. Apparently the album sold absolute f*ck-all on release which is a real shame.

These are probably my two favourite tracks:

Hats is an amazing album but, A Walk Across The Rooftops is as good or better. I recommend checking it out when you get a chance.

I'm really liking A Walk Across The Rooftops at the moment, it hasn't quite grown on me as much as Hats but it's pretty damn good. 'Tinseltown In The Rain' has been stuck in my head the past few days and is probably the best song I've heard from them, such a brilliant song.

I've heard the first two on that poll at least but while they have a nice sound (production) I haven't found the music that gripping. It just kind of floats by me.

Yeah I'd go along with that. Definitely underrated - Sadly they dont talk to each other nowadays ......

Im currently reading 'Nileism' the biog about the band which hopefully may explain how they always took so long to release stuff - though stories that they decided they could only work on 'Easter parade' on Sundays may have something to do with it.
Im just getting to the stage where they are about to release the 1st LP and its got me racking my brains as how I got to know about them/it as there was never much publicity for/about them (Id moved away from home (emigrated to Engerland) by then so it wouldnt have been the Scottish press)- sure glad I did though.

Have you heard the Craig Armstrong version of Lets Go Out Tonight ? (Paul Buchanan sings on it) - worth checking out
