I really love both albums, and will have to give them both some more attention before I vote. It's hard to vote, because some of the songs on The Cleansing are just devastating, but Angel Dust is just so strong through out. |

I'm going to go with Faith No More on this one. I've never been a Prong fan and I've tried The Cleansing before back when I was trying to get into the band but it just didn't fly and time has not changed my mind at all.

The Cleansing is a very good album, I need to re-listen to Prong again, they're real man's metal band, nothing sissy about this bunch:laughing: This stuff pummels and takes no prisoners. As Lopocalypse said "Snap Your Fingers..." is a great song with a big Killing Joke influence in it. The problem is though, that Angel Dust is one of the great albums of the 1990s in terms of creativity, its a shame that this Prong album has been matched against it.
Faith No More -5 Prong -1 |
That Prong album is really good, but like it's been said, it's hard for me to go against FNM and it's kind of an uphill battle for Cleansing.
Faith No More -6 Prong -1 |
Prong aren't coming back here so its 6-1 and Faith No More go on to the final round where they face White Zombie.

You know. I can still listen to that White Zombie album to this day. It is just a fun carnival ride of an alt-metal record. It has great elements of theatrics and reminds me of some b-horror greatness. Has such a charm to it still for me. One of my favorite releases of the 90's.
As I say, I think FNM are overrated, yeah, they had a few moments here and there, but why they are treated like gods is beyond me. So I have to go with White Zombie on this one. Has so many elements I love. It is what I think Rob Zombie is trying to do with his movies.... but done right. It is fun, and at the same time heavy. White Zombie -1 FNM - 0 |
Once again, an easy choice. Astro-Creep has a few good songs on but it's one of those albums that just goes on and on for far too long with far too much filler, not to mention it frequently comes off as a poor man's Ministry. I've owned it since it came out and only managed to sit through it in its entirety a handful of times. Angel Dust by contrast tastes great, no filler. And it's definitely its own animal.
White Zombie -1 FNM - 1 |
no contest here at all
Astro-Creep has some of my best out-of-teens memories associated with it, and has some awesome bass riffs, and you can dance to it Angel Dust was a horrible comedown after the Real Thing, and remember, i got rid of it shortly after i bought it White Zombie - 2 FNM - 1 |

I was thinking that I was probably going to be the only person voting for White Zombie on here, but it seems I'm wrong. Its not that the White Zombie is better than the FNM album in any way, but its just so much more fun. When I hear the FNM album, I hear a creative watermark for 90s metal in terms of diversity and song craft, when I hear White Zombie its an adventure in metal that always brings a big smile to my face..........bring on those B-movies.
White Zombie -4 FNM -1 |
Four crazy people have voted so far I see.

Astro Creep also has one of my favorite album openers all the time.
This, into "Syper-Changer Heaven" = amazing. That alone warrants my vote. |

I'm going to have to go with White Zombie on this one because it adds a much needed dose of levity to the metal scene, particularly at a time when there was so much controversy surrounding the church arson's and murder in Norway. Zombie's love of B-horror movies shines through and it actually did get me a little more interested in the subgenre of film as I tried to find where the original soundclips came from.
As much as I love FNM, my favourite album from them is King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime and while Angel Dust is a great album, I just don't see myself going back to it all that often. White Zombie - 5 Faith No More - 1 |
Good lord. I expected FNM to clean up on this battle, but White Zombie is destroying it and making it bear it's rape children!

To me, I love Astro Creep... it is heavy, thrashy and full of exploitation... like watching Basket Case or Re-Animator... it takes pride in how trashy it is... and that makes it even better for me. Takes itself just seriously enough, but also has a humor to it... like Evil Dead II type stuff. This album just makes me think of those classic horror movies.. Basket Case, Re-Animator, Evil Dead... and on and on... That is why I love it so. That FNM album = meh. |
Well this war has one more day, so the votes need to come in for FNM. Next up will be Frownland's delayed war.
|
Ungh, I really like both albums. I love Patton's rendition of Easy. I think Land of Sunshine is not only a great opener but a great track, period. Midlife Crisis is solid - I love the change-up in the middle. Be Aggressive... is pretty cool.
But I gotta go with Zombie. 7-1 White Zombie Sorry Jans. Although that nonsense about Angel Dust being dull is nonsense. |
The results so far:
Skateboard - 7 Time-Traveling Flying DeLorean - 1 |
I'd pick the skateboard. I mean the DeLorean is cool all and all, but in all reality I imagine running on plutonium would be too expensive for my blood.
