This might be my favorite stoner doom song ever. It's so simple, but not a second is wasted. The epic sample, the bass, the riffing, the distortion... It's godly.

Been really digging some technical thrash metal lately. Can't get enough of it.

I don't know about that. Tech. death has Gorgut's Obscura, which I'd choose over all the albums in certain genres of music entirely.

Regular thrash beats death metal though.

On that note, this song is one of the few old school death metal songs that I like. It's basically just a much more feral version of something from Reign In Blood, though there's no substitute for Reign in blood.

I'd call that progressive death metal. I guess the difference being that progressive death metal actually innovates and experiments, whereas technical death metal just uses fancy shmancy technique.

I saw a discussion of this new Amon Amarth song, and I was of course going to ignore it, except I could not help but notice that the background for this is literally a dragon about to torch a band of Vikings floating helplessly onboard their ship. A part of me really wants to like this band for being so forthcoming with their nerdy-ness...

I think Obscura is TDM, with some Avant Garde influences... it could border on PDM as well. Its hard to put it in a box.

Death, Gorguts, Ulcerate, Demilich, Martyr (Canada), Cryptopsy, Nile... classics.
