I like Testament, but I'm only a moderate fan of their 80s music. After Alex Skolnick left I think the rhythm guitarist, Eric Peterson, took over to an extent, and whereas before their music had a certain fluidity, afterwards they had a more staccato rhythm that could work but sound weird, or just totally sound boring. But The Gathering was still a badass album. Last one I ever cared about. With Dave Lombardo on drums OMG!
