Taken and filed under consideration. However, flawed as my taste can be, I stand by this band and can't dismiss them so quickly. They aren't amazing, but I don't cringe when listening to them. Not everyone can be Protest The Hero.

Little kept secret of mine though Batty, which is you yourself have some turds of your own that you say are great bands, but this guy doesn't want to rain on your delusion and say that your own judgement of what counts as good music is not perfect either, I'd only say yours is a bit more diverse than mine, but that's as far as I'd stretch it.

Cringe, motherf*cker.

August Burns Red aren't my favorite band in the universe, but they're still better than Beartooth, who aren't just unoriginal, but I honestly don't know if I could tell the difference between them and any other like-minded bands.

Whether or not you like Ke$ha, ICP, or Manowar, you still know it's them when you hear one of their songs.

Haha, yeah I agree man, I'm just flicking you sh*t. Beartooth is catchy, and there's enough there for me that I'm not bored right out of the gate. Their album isn't solid, I like five of the songs on it, but beyond that, they are just an occasional listen.

Ke$ha is set apart when you talk about sound when compared to her peers, but Batty, I've said it before and will keep saying it, that's about where here difference from others stops for me. F*ck ICP, terrible haha. And as for Manowar, I have only listened to maybe...four songs? Good stuff.

So the difference in Ke$ha and her peers' sounds stops at their sounds being different?

My point is I think she's some of the best of the sh*tty Pop music that's dominating the charts, but she's still sh*t. Her sound is a bit different, but it's not new.

Thoughts on the new Trivium? Better than everything off of their last album the Disturbed singer f*cked up. This new song almost sounds like it wants to be Power Metal.

I don't care if it's new, I just care that it's catchy and has its own personality (the second criteria isn't even necessary TBH).

Haven't had the interest in listening to it, but it sounds like the boring **** off The Crusade, but at least that album had "Anthem (We Are the Fire)".

You're talking to a guy that has listened to Trivium since their first album. I think they have moments of brilliance more often than not, and even when they're not very good, they're better than some other bands they share their genre with at their worst. Anthem (We Are The Fire) was also a standout for me from The Crusade, but I thought Shogun was a better album to be honest. In Waves falls somewhere between The Crusade and Shogun, Vengeance Falls I'd say has been their most disappointing album, Ascendancy still charts high for me, I can still listen to the entire album without skipping a song, I can almost do the same with Shogun and In Waves.

But do you even like Trivium all that much?

Never listened to their first album, love the first half -- and only the first half -- of Ascendency, am too bored with The Crusade to listen to it enough to say anything other than it's boring, love Shogun, but lost interest in the band when it became clear that they'd peaked creatively by the time of In Waves (Though I might go back to that album to see if it at least measures up to Ascendency).

If I had to pick a derivative melodic metalcore band to listen to, then it would easily be Trivium, but I have to be in the mood.

Their first I'd say is closer to a hard edged screamo album, Metalcore tendencies. I'm not a big fan of it but it'll get a little play time now and then.

Ascendancy, I can't knock that album. I agree that the later half of it is a little lacking, but it's a good album.

The Crusade I'd call growing pains for the band, they were making a shift in their sound and wanting to show what they were capable of, and I'd say they succeeded in making an album that was ambitious, but it fell short too, and yeah I'd say was a bit boring. Still. If I had to pick between The Crusade, and some other melodic metal outfits album, I'd probably pick The Crusade.

Give In Waves another spin. I thought it was their best since Shogun. Not as good as Shogun, but as good, or better than Ascendancy.

You check out their recent album Vengeance Falls? Take my word and pass on it, Strife was about as good as that album got, but was overall a flat record or dull album.

For Doom Metal this moves at a pretty decent lick, and I must say I really love it so far.
