Those albums all have a Slayer-ness, but they sound almost nothing alike in a lot of ways, from production to delivery to vocals. They're basically the sound of a band perfecting thrash with each subsequent release, and no other band would ever touch that evolution. After that the band's sound never really expanded to the same extent, even though it definitely did evolve.
Hmm maybe if I'm feeling particularly in need of breakneck thrash one day, but I'm not exactly eager to spend 2 hours on Slayer. Maybe remind me again some other time and I might cave in.

147 minutes to be exact. Just sayin.

I think I might follow suit. I just started Show No Mercy cause it's the third best muthackin Slayer album after the co-headliners of Reign in Blood and Hell Awaits. But to be honest Show No Mercy can compete when I'm feeling particularly 80s, so yeah this is def one of the best metal albums ever. It's just this perfect, honestly underappreciated early 80s metal album. It's just everything I love about 1983.

Edit: oh **** didn't I just spam this album? It's a cool album.

Slayer is the AC/DC of thrash metal.
Of course their songs don't sound literally the same, but... close enough for the degree to which I care about the band. Ok so the very first album and Diabolus in Musica were a bit different, but how many albums do they have?
100%. And the next statement is, well, just wrong. I mean, AC/DC? I should get Batty to give Tom your home address....

They have 12 albums and they're all great and unique except for Repentless. And World Painted Blood to a lesser extent.
And Undisputed Attitude. That's just awful.

To me it's not even splitting hairs. Those albums are simply highly different.
QFT. Even I recognise the difference.

And don't forget Haunting the Chapel.

I'll never forget Haunting the Chapel, that is a godlike Slayer release. All of it rules, but "Chemical Warfare" is most def a brilliant 1st wave black metal anthem.

It is superb, I have to agree. It's kind of like you're walking through the eponymous chapel, watching the shadows, thinking you know what to expect when BAM! This ****ing hideous monster jumps out howling at you, you **** your pants, and life, and metal, is never the same again.

Bruh if you can understand that and then listen to softer black metal then you can listen to any extreme metal. I will see you into grindcore and powerviolence. Maybe not powerviolence. But you'll still like Nails.

Can't see me and Grindcore ever sharing the same bus. Tried NSV recently and no, still couldn't get it. Shrug.
I've done well, I think, to get as far as I have in a relatively short time. Don't shove me over the edge too soon.

Bruh meet me at the middle with this. Just this once, friend. I don't know that you will like this but I suspect that it might give you another perspective on the genre. I basically just hope that this interests you.

Just do it. It's one of the best metal albums ever in any case.

I'll try it tomorrow when I don't have to have the volume down to almost nothing: 2:30 AM here.

Sorry, I was under the influence.
