^^^ that's actually some pretty good black metal Batlord. I hadn't heard them before, but I'm pleasantly surprised.

I'm not so sure about Ildjarn.

This is probably Ildjarn's most palatable album. Really similar to Bathory's s/t; punk beats, simple riffs, & distorted vocals. The only real difference is Ildjarn sometimes makes use of harmony. Still, it is a musical progression of a style that Quorthorn abandoned in favor of more complex arrangements.

Just found these guys (even if the album is a few years old), the majority of the album sounds like early Sepultura but that isn't a bad thing in my eyes. This track takes a while to pick up but loving that raw production that puts the emphasis back onto Guitars and Drums which is what got me into Metal in the first place. United Nations by Ektomorf from the album Instinct:

Symphony of Grief
I had never heard of these guys before but apparently they're from my adoptive home city (active long before I lived here though). Pretty decent death/doom kind of stuff if you ask me. The rough production adds quite a bit of atmosphere too.

I know this is silly, but it's also silly fast USBM. Absu's secret weapon is the "Proscriptor" who can some how play drums blindingly fast and screech at the same time.

First time listening to Septic Flesh, and I am pleasantly surprised. Death metal that makes use of synths without sounding cheesy. Cool.

When I tire of listening to death and black metal posers, I usually listen to bands like XTC or the Decemberists, but on this occasion I went with the truly harrowing stuff...
