It's the best thing Metallica has done in the last 20 years or so, but it's still nothing special.

Just to be the devils advocate, he never said anything disparaging about Metallica(in fact he said the album was amazing). I'm not really quite sure myself who he is referring to with "Snot nosed shallow people" but frankly it's unarguable that a sizable chunk(not necessarily a majority just a large chunk) of their fanbase are mouth-breathing rednecks whose idea of good music is something that makes them want to start a fight at the bar on Saturday night. When you have a fanbase like that and you release an experimental album like Lulu you're just asking for people to be upset
