I also enjoy One on One quite a bit.
Lots of good tunes on that one imo.

One on One is always a favourite of mine too, its a odd album as its probably the heaviest album they ever put out, but it also contains the ballad "If You Want My Love" and a couple of new-wave inspired pop tunes to boot and was produced by Roy Thomas Baker. It was also the first album that they recorded with Jon Brant on bass (even though Rick Neilsen had played nearly all the bass parts before he joined) Love the final cut, especially that manic final section.

I cherish the first 3 albums and listen to them all the time. The live album always seemed kinda short, but that was rectified with the expanded version including the concert DVD. Watching Zander and the band perform the light and heavy dynamic really brings Nirvana to mind.

Hey its good to see you back on MB, you're easily one of the best posters on here but I guess this is a flying visit and we'll see you again in about 6 months time

Cheap Trick were amongst the many bands out there, that were an influence on the future Nirvana and there is a definite connection.

Alright, so I'm giving Heaven Tonight a spin, and four tracks in, I'm already sold. I say four tracks in, but I've replayed "Surrender" and "California Man" enough times that I should be almost to the end of the album by now.

I listened to a bit of their debut, which was cool. Other than that, the only thing I know of them is the concert they keep replaying on the local public television station. I might add, that while the album version of "Heaven Tonight" is awesome, the live version is infinitely darker and more epic.

Only a bit! That's like having a chocolate eclair in front of you and only taking a bite.

For such a good song, "Heaven Tonight" was usually left off a lot of their live performances.

I think I like "In Color" the best. The Albini remix toughens it up a bit. "Downed" is just so sweet.
