That is true. A couple of harmonies on Blood Mountain are really good too - of course Josh Homme is a highlight but "Siberian Divide" has that choir thing going on that gets me all hot and bothered every time i hear it.

This band don't really belong in this sub forum but The Magic Numbers debut album is so good and tragically overlooked as a flavour of the month when it came out in the mid 2000's. It holds up so well.

Pure Reason Revolution may float your boat too:

All of these are definitely solid, although Damn Yankees gives me pause on principle. The harmonies were undeniable though.

Very surprised no one has mentioned The Mamas and the Papas, as their whole deal is so immersed in their vocal harmonies. And very good ones, at that.

And Peter Paul and Mary:

It may not quite be my cup of tea, but it's quality. The harmonies are definitely there

Those are both great examples, but ironically, my first thought when I saw that you posted in the thread was, "duh, Phish!" They do have some excellent harmonies. Some of my favorites are The Squirming Coil, Divided Sky, and Silent in the Morning.

Keeping in the same vein, the Grateful Dead had some stellar harmonies, especially this little acapella chestnut here:

Good call on Animal Collective, whoever that was. They really channel their inner Beach Boys on some songs.

I love the call and response on My Girls

this song, though weaker in general, has better harmonies IMO
