I'm pretty sure he never escaped prison. He just had some whack job mind-clubbed into helping him break out, but it failed horribly.

I don't know how they roll in Norway, I just know that he was transferred from max security to low security in 2003 and was given a leave. After trying to go on the run, and jacking that car, 13 more months were added to his sentence and he got sent back to max security.
