Well that the concept is commonly used to refer to something (that turns out to be incoherent) is coherent. But I'm talking about the "that turns out to be incoherent" part, not that people appeal to something incoherent.

Well, it makes sense to me. Sorry that thinking about it too much made it nonsensical in your eyes.

That's kinda like advocating the merits of not thinking about something enough to get at the truth, and then promoting something wrong in light of that.

Do you start a discussion about how there actually is no god and the whole concept is man-made and meaningless every time someone says 'Oh my god'?

Good luck crusading in the face of simpler communication, then.

No. But I might start a discussion like that if people were to say something like, "Wait, are you talking about God or the numinous? We need to make that distinction."

Because you wouldn't see the difference between those terms. But you knew what I was talking about right? It might be some pet peeve of yours, but it doesn't change that you knew what I meant.
Welcome to the vague but useful world of communication.

Because it's important to not promote misconceptions, in my opinion, even if they're popular.

But to an extent, assuming that there are anything like universals in that realm is a fiction, and why would we kowtow to it and pretend that it's anything more than it is, re using it to refer to a "favorite"/"best" distinction? That just promotes misconceptions and fallacies--it leads folks to accept argumentum ad populums as having some sort of weight for truth value. It doesn't make the supposed distinction conceptually coherent. Why promote something incoherent?

True, he definitely is not in the top echelon of rock singers for multiple reasons, one being his constant breaths after each line, another is he can sometimes deliver a very whiny performance. But he definitely has talent. The major reason I gave him a mention was because of how well he can compliment the sound of his band. Some singers who have much more talent, for example Geoff Tate, tend to not be able to accomplish that as consistently as Matt.
