David Coverdale was good with Whitesnake, not very familiar with his Deep Purple days.

But were talking about two different eras and styles of rock here, so I also agree Plant is there.

Actually, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin were both Blues influenced Hard Rock bands, and they were around in roughly the same time period. Even though the Zep veered towards a heavier sound, and the Stones started earlier, it isn't unreasonable to compare the two bands as peers.

Also, while I love Mick, even I have to admit that his "stage presence" is highly overrated. Robert Plant was just as exciting, and had a powerful range as well. And honestly, there was nothing that Mick did presence-wise that earlier Blues/R&B musicians (and, by extension, Elvis) hadn't already done, and that's not even counting all of the energetic Garage bands that were around at the same time (and who are sadly overlooked).

I understand where your coming from except for Robert Plant as being a better frontman. True, (at one time) they were both popular at the same time.

I personally would be more comfortable comparing the Stones with the Who, verses Zeppelin anyway.

Pete Townshend, is the man.

I could go with John Kay and Steppenwolf.

Its all is still quite subjective, no matter how we look at it.
