I must be insane but that Trower riff rules the roost, the open string BWAAAA at the end of a sassy run like that wins it for me.

The Focus riff was really good, First time i hear them and i think Chula mentioned they were a 70's band but to me their riff felt very modern.

I don't even consider that a riff in the BJ song.

(might be nice to add a FF to with videos that have long intros like that)

I can't even pretend to like the Joel song even though I think hes one of the great crooners of the 70's and 80's. Riff was certainly non-existent. When I think riff I immediately think huge distortion and chugga-chugga. Not really a huge fan of the GW riff, but it holds up as a riff.

Looks like I need to reconsider my definition of riff.

I, for one, love the guitar line that opens "Keeping the Faith", and it sounds even better live.
