Sometimes a kid who is a few years old does not think about it. People born in the 80s listened to them in the 90s, like me.

Anyways, they got popular in the early 90s in my country, even though it was 1987 when they released their debut album.

So this is true to say they were popular in late 80s, early 90s. Use your Illusion was as much popular as previous album.

I started listening to Pink Floyd in the 2000s, therefore, Pink Floyd is my favourite band of the 21st century.

I have to disagree - for me Sonic Youth really peaked in the early 90s. Goo, Dirty, Experimental Jet Set etc. I know it's probably not a popular opinion amongst SY fans, with how much Daydream Nation is revered, but it's how I feel about their music. When I read the OP Sonic Youth was the first band I thought of (and I'm familiar with all of their 80s output).

If you think Goo and Dirty are better records than Bad Moon Rising and Sister then we have very little common ground concerning Sonic Youth. Too me that's as ridiculous as saying Emotional Rescue and Tattoo You are better than Exile and Let It Bleed.

Seriously though, you might think they did their best work in the 80's but not everybody agrees with that, personally my favorite Sonic Youth songs are scattered through out their discography.

I don't think i ever answered this thread seriously.. The best band of the 90's to me was definitely Nirvana. They were the band that got me into rock music and made me want to learn how to play it.
