I'm aware of that, I think it's a cheesy name for a bunch of white liberals from Salt Lake City. Perhaps if they were a metalcore band from Palestine, or Beirut I'de be like cool.

How is the metal scene in Lebanon & the middle east anyways. Is there one?

there are some documentaries about metal in lebanon/the middle east on youtube as well although they're mostly old and for me personally, i felt they were kind of outdated

hmmm, what else...... there are metal bands from saudi arabia, bahrain, kuwait, jordan, palestine, morocco, the list goes on. its all underground, its not mainstream but yeah, it definitely exists.

Cool thanks, I hope a lot of the bands have a Middle Eastern flavor to it, instead of just sounding like American bands.

Curious question. During heavy metals hey day in the 1980's there was this fear of heavy metal and its association with satanism. So of course a lot of the bands played that up, (Motley Cure, obviously Slayer)

Do heavy metal bands do that in the Middle East, and would there be any consequences in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait or to a lesser extent Lebanon, if bands started to denounce Allah and took a satanic spin on Islam? Just curious?

there are both. there are some bands who like to add a middle eastern sound to metal, which some people are not into. and some who sounds exactly like western metal bands, which i guess is okay but can get boring.

yeah, people typically associate metal with satanism. theres 1 bahraini band i know for sure have denounced allah and a saudi band as well. and they seem to still be going. in lebanon, i haven't really heard of anything like that happening. and its not really just islam. christian families in lebanon FOR SURE don't want their kids starting metal bands. my friend whos armenian lebanese/christian i remember got in a lot of trouble for just going to a metal show. so its not really just a muslim thing. some muslim parents around dont give a **** if their kids smoke weed and drink, in fact a lot of the weed farms in lebanon are run by muslims lol. and some conservative christians would lose their **** if their kids ever did that. its really a lot more complicated than just oh muslims all believe the same ****. its just not like that.

I know, but there is the media driven perception (Fair or not) that nations in the Middle East are more fundamentalist in their faith.

So it had me thinking if couple of misfits in Kuwait decided they were atheists and Islam was BS, and created the Muslim satanic equivalent of Slayer, could they get away with it? or would the government come down on them, or would they be targets for radical fundamentalists (ISIS types)?

I recognize there is still a religious right in the United States, but the most they do is show up to protest outside of concerts, or try to get censorship labels put on records. There not the force they once were when I was little.
