I agree, Volume 4 is a bit of a slog fest and is my least favourite out of the big 6.

"deep dish" as in extremely introverted & introspective (as in preferring music as background noise like Miles Davis and John Coltrane) than yes I can see that.

Volume 4 doesn't have any memorable guitar riffs. Sweet Leaf and Into the Void is enough to throw Master of Reality near the top for me.
