I think that's only true for Siamese Dream. I'm pretty sure they played their parts on Gish, and they were certainly involved in Mellon Collie, Adore and Machina.

Iha dosen't get enough credit.

I'm getting really fed up with your trolling.

Do you hate EVERY good band? Jesus.

Anyone check out Billy's poetry? I saw a video on youtube when he was sick and had some audience members help him out.

A friend has his poetry book or whatever it is and really likes it.

You always resort to labeling something 'trolling' when it just happens to be a post discrediting a band that you happen to like. If I'd written the same thing in a thread about Deerhoof, you woulda been entirely unmoved.

I justified my position on the band in earlier posts before that one, so see them. I think Gish is alright, Mellon Collie is good but should have been a single album, and that Siamese Dream is an unbelievably great record. I think everything after Mellon Collie was atrociously bad, right up to Zeitgeist and including Corgan's bizarre self-release. So no, I don't hate "EVERY good band", but my appreciation of the Pumpkins is somewhat limited.

Aside from that, I think a 'good' band is one that over the long term proves to be more than just a one-trick pony.

I wouldn't post on a Deerhoof thread if there was one, because I don't like them.

It's one thing to express your opinions on a thread that asks for them, there is enough negative threads here to express your distaste for a band, there's no reason to troll a thread specifically for that band.

I may post on a thread for a band I don't like and say I don't like them, but I never bother posting more than once and trying to start an argument.

Right, and like I said, I didn't come in merely to express my distaste. I had some good things to say about them too. I like Siamese Dream a lot and think Corgan evidently had some talent in him. I also liked the guitar work of Iha on that particular album.

Other than that, it's common behaviour on these boards to go into threads about a particular band and express some particular negative criticism. You will be well aware that various mods themselves do exactly the same thing. There is no rule stated anywhere on the boards that one cannot do it - it comes within the scope of discussing a band.

The purpose of posts with a negative opinion on the relevant topic is to generate discussion, not to disrupt discussion. There's no attempt at provocation at all. I find the sort of anger-ridden responses you give sometimes to be bizarre. It's only a band, for God's sake. It's nothing serious.

I would appreciate it if you would stopping trolling Rainerd. He/she/it hasn't done anything, that I am aware of, that would lead to your obsessive following of him/her/it into every thread to bitch about him/her/it "trolling" when it is in fact you who are trolling him/her/it.

Billy played a lot of the parts on the first album, which did cause a bit of tension within the band of course. But yeah Iha was more involved later on.

I'm a bit of a fan of Iha, Blew Away is prob the standout track on Pisces Iscariot and Take Me Down on Mellon Collie isn't too bad either. His solo stuff is fairly good.

I like some songs he does, but ...Said Sadly and A Night Like This are a bit weak. He's a way better guitar player than singer.
