Not always, no, it can be whatever you want it to be...Sometmes a band cares more about their actual music rather than trying to sound deep or emotional, KISS dont seem to care much about any of those things, its more about how cool their makeup looks, how elaborate their state shows are, how many chicks they score with, how much money they make, how many products they can put their faces on, etc.

I dont really care about any of those things, im a music person, and sometimes stuff like meaning or feeling is irelivent to me, especialy if i dont find myself enjoying the actual music, expressing yourself is great and all, but sometimes im just in more of a mood to hear a good moog synthesizer solo.

talking about now. there is a difference between glitter/ glam rock and rock. especially from the 70's, kiss, twisted sister.etc. those were gliiter/ glam bands. exceptions can be made, bowie was glam, but made good music you didn't need to watch to enjoy. you can like what you like, but to say kiss is one of the greatest rock bands ever is a very wrong statement.

KISS are far from being one of the best glam bands anyway.

The Stooges
T. Rex
Queen
Roxy Music
Mott The Hoople
Sweet
New York Dolls
Slade
Mud
Wizzard

Kiss doesn't really challenge you to listen. They came up with a formula that worked, and never really strayed too far from it. As far as the 70's go, you can do a lot better than Kiss.

i don't know, i think that if i were around that long ago, i would have the same feelings, they were all show, and no real eventful music. there is tons better than kiss, they're down at the bottom of my kind of like music, along with like blink-182 and journey. and queen and bowie were the 2 huge exceptions to the glam rock rule, again, you didn't have to watch them perform their music, to enjoy them.

Most bands have their time, and KISS is past theirs. However, they played one of the best live shows I have seen (with their makeup & all).

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.

/\ What?

Well per usual, im going to break with the lemming pack here and say you're all horribly off-kilter.

Kiss didn't challenge you? Do you want your bands to be a ****ing math problem when you listen to them? I know I don't.

I love how people can look at a band thats effected people for well over 30 years and say they have no redeeming value. Your motives are clear, we still think you listen to ****ty music.

Kiss loved what they did, and they did it pretty damn well. They weren't one of these pretensious jackass groups who thought their music was on par with god, they just went out and had fun. If you listen to kiss and expect anything other then we should really all be analyzing you.

Kiss was what rock should be, carefree balls to the wall songs about doing what you actually do. Don't sing to me about the ****ing tidal wave in Cambodia, don't try to give a birlliant synopsis of Lockeian political structures while you ****ing sing, just play the ****ing song, and play it about **** you know, not what you read in a book to impress women.
