7) Os Mutantes
The darlings of the Tropicalia movement, this two brothers and one Rita Lee trio are still the finest band ever to come out of the southern hemisphere. Hailing from Sao Paulo, their self titled debut in 1968 has become the stuff of legend, combining Brazilian rhythm with Fuzz and Psychedelic components to create one of the most extraordinary sounds ever created by mankind.
Essential
Os Mutantes (1968)

6) The Kaleidoscope
Labelled by Fontana Records as The Sound of Tomorrow, this no nonsense group from Acton in London, were the epitome of English Psychedelia, with excellent orchestral arrangements, whimsical lyrics, gorgeous harmonies and easily accessible music experimentation. Their debut in 1967 and the follow up in 1969 to this day remain the most underrated English sixties albums from the period.
Essentials
Tangerine Dream (1967)

Faintly Blowing (1969)

Only an English band could do a tune about a man called Geoffrey.

5) The Pretty Things
Another band from Fontana, a true band for all seasons. Stumbling inebriated into the world from Kent in England’s South East, this filthy R&B group shook Britain to the core when they arrived on the scene in 1965. Not only that but flawlessly reinvented themselves in 1968 creating a landmark piece with the now seminal album S.F. Sorrow, the band The Rolling Stones could have been.
Essentials
Get The Picture? (1965)

S.F. Sorrow (1968)
