I just read about the Hendrix anthology this morning 'West Coast Seattle Boy' that's releasing next week. Sounds absolutely amazing - wanted to know if anyone had the scoop on the release, pre-order details, etc?

In my opinion Jimi was WAY better live, on the stage he just completely let loose on his guitar. So, my favorites are something like this;

Oh man Hendrix.Hendrix,Hendrix. The wind cries mary, red house, purple haze, little wing, where do I stop? Literally nothing I dont like. My inspiration and motivation for guitar these days. From the first time hearing him. Little wing being the first song ever heard from him. That was all it took. Since ive been intrigued into the life of this all around genius of music and guitar. Cant ever get enough. Theres not really to much out there that tells of the life behind the legend. Leaving that mystery mytique about him. Which only adds to the craving of more. Forever an icon and pioneer of many things. From what I do know I like as far as a person. I relate to a lot of his characteristics. In some rare interviews you can tell he was actually shy to an extent. The stage and guitar were his comfort zone. Thats where he let loose for all to see. Every piece of this God of the guitar is interesting.

I was surprised, when I found out Hendrix received the "Screaming Eagles" patch with the US Army's 101 paratroopers. That explains a lot concerning his character. All the different genres Hendrix pioneered is just amazing. Funk Rock and Jazz_Fusion/(Jazz Rock), are just a few to mention.

(According to bassist/singer Randy Jackson, jazz fusion is an exceedingly difficult genre to play. According to Jackson, " I...picked jazz fusion because I was trying to become the ultimate technical musician-able to play anything. Jazz fusion to me is the hardest music to play. You have to be so proficient on your instrument. Playing five tempos at the same time, for instance. I wanted to try the toughest music because I knew if I could do that, I could do anything.")

How does that explain a lot concerning his character? As in what? The reason Jimi joined the service was because he was picked up for riding in a stolen vehicle. When left with a choice he took the option of joining the service rather than doing time. As would I. Not downing my hero. I could care less about his runins with the law. Im just wondering where you connecting his character with his short stay as a paratrooper?
