Led Zeppelin vs. The Beatles

Who's music do you like better? This isn't to discuss who is more influential or more important to the rock genre, but just who's music do you like better?

I like both a lot, but I think I like listening to Led Zepplin just a bit more thanThe Beatles. It's a hard choice, though, because it's a really close call for me.

Edgil 12-18-2003 10:35 PM

Sure they revolutionized "Rock" but that doesn't mean their music must be cherished or worshiped. The newer styles of music are much more compelling based on self preference to many people and only because they were one of the first greats doesn't mean they are the only great thing out there = )

exasko 12-19-2003 12:20 PM

bigger fan of the beatles... but i like john lennon solo better

MobilizeTerror 12-21-2003 04:43 PM

Totally Led Zepplin!

2tonelol 02-18-2004 03:58 AM

I have chosen the Beatles only because they have had a wider style of musical output.

Shan 02-18-2004 01:51 PM

Led Zeppelin personally. And I reluctantly admit to finding my self agreeing with some of what Edgil said... OH, hang on, I see what's happening...Edgil you sneaky boy, you said it on purpose to try and get in my good books and impress me! Tut tut!!

Eltiraaz 02-18-2004 02:02 PM

Zepplin, the beatles we huge and that was exactly the problem. They were too much of a girls obsession than serious musicians. But dont get me wrong, I love both to death..

let it be....

It's Zeppelin, and I'm shocked at your Beatles statement.

Well i have never heard aything like that in my life,To be fair it's a hard comparrison to make.So you may of strained yourself a bit working out your favourite, but are you seriously saying that the attention given to the Beatles made them less musicians???? Your nuts cracked!!!

Eltiraaz 02-18-2004 03:39 PM

w/e

No, not less musicians, but the beatles were too over-hyped by the media, in my eyes. Still love em though. I liked John Lennon better during his solo career.

Yes they were over hyped, but you did say they were "too much of a girls obsession than serious musicians", they may have started off with some crappy run of the mill songs, but they were actually brilliant at what they did, as a group and as individuals who attracted alot more than purely a screaming teen audience.

2tonelol 02-18-2004 04:05 PM

I also seem to remember that Robert Plant couldn't sing a song without getting his top off! Attempting to atract the females,i guess that put's a downside on his talents?

Eltiraaz 02-18-2004 04:31 PM

umm. no. I dont think that the fact that girls went crazy over them in any way shape or form affects their artist ability, the british invasion just got a little boring to me thats all.

Yes wave after wave of artists coming across and teaching you what you have been missing in your own back yards must of been a real drag!

I expect you also believe that Lennon really thought he was bigger than jesus, did you burn all your albums to?

I do think that the Beatles are the best thing to come out of Britain (well, after The Rolling Stones). :D

Eltiraaz 02-18-2004 06:11 PM

I like Coldplay and Radiohead. But this is getting Offtopic as it is...

Early Beatles is really good, but as time progressed it turned into very formula-matic music. Zepplin owns in every sense of the song. Kashmir (sp) is one of the most famous songs around

banonbush 02-24-2004 01:48 PM

Riseagainst. I think if anything, the early Beatle's music was formulated, being every song was overly estatic about being in love, all in a major key, in 4/4. Later Beatles branched out into many different topics, keys, and time signatures. Personally, I prefer the late Beatles, however I think they are much better than Led Zepplin. It's almost hard to compare being as they didn't really play the same type of music. Zepplin played only metal...or whatever you want to call it...and the Beatles played popish styles in the beginning and more "real", if you will, music towards the end. Just don't take this as trying to take away anything from Zepplin, because I'm not. They are plenty good, just not as good as the Beatles. :-)

Crimson_Grin 03-02-2004 02:28 PM

Personally I Listen To Led Zeppelin More. I Prefer Their Style Of Music. The Beatles And Led Zep Were Totally Different Styles. It's Like Comparing Pacarotti And AC/DC (Maybe Not That Extremt Though) :hphones:

Eltiraaz 03-03-2004 03:23 PM

haha not quite.. i mean they were different for sure but i think that i bit over the top yeah..

They're music styles were different.. they're attitudes as well

DismembermentPlan 03-11-2004 04:55 PM

two different genres or music in my opinon.

both were totally awesome, but they were in different realms. Both bands are hugely thoughtful in their lyrics, just non-comparable styles.

brokenheartsandfallenhero 03-12-2004 08:29 PM

I agree with dismembermentplan they were both revolutionary just in different types of music and at different times both bands had great qualities its just they came at different times in music I also think that grouping them both in the genre of "classic Rock" is too broad

Drifting_Angel 05-21-2004 04:04 AM

Led Zeppelin are pretty good.

but I think of the Beatles as a more influential band. They both rock though

Sneer 12-31-2004 11:01 AM

both are amazing, 2 of my favoutite bands ever. but i listen to zeppelin more as i prfer their musical style. the beatles older stuff was awesome- not so keen on their early stuff. and about this american stuff on the airways...britian has the truely special bands (radiohead, muse, coldplay nowadays)- beat that!

Urban Hat€monger ? 12-31-2004 11:42 AM

I`d say Zep easily, I`ve never thought the Beatles were all that to be honest although I don`t deny their influence. Having said that I`d take Beggers Banquet & Exile On Main Street over either anything both bands have recorded.

Waynegrow 12-31-2004 11:51 AM

Zepplin for sure but i really like that egg man song by the Beatles i think thats what it is called.

Sweet Jane 12-31-2004 01:08 PM

Led Zep, no contest.

dog 01-11-2005 04:06 AM

holy fuk man thats a hard one, gotta go with equal tho

Metal_Head 01-17-2005 12:50 AM

the guy who posted above me... his name explains it all. Led Zeppelin wins fo sho.

Enfilade 01-17-2005 03:18 PM

I'm going to go against the grain here and say BEATLES. I am so in love with these guys.

Metal_Head 01-17-2005 03:24 PM

Led Zeppelin owns the Beatles.

sleepy jack 01-17-2005 08:21 PM

is anyone else getting really tired of classic rock band 1 vs. classic rock band threads?

Delirium 01-18-2005 02:07 AM

All that i hear about Led Zeppelin now is in car commercials. The Beatles own Led Zeppelin.
