my older sister owns a compilation album of theirs, but i don't think i've ever sat and actually listened to a full song.

I'd second that, if at first it doesn't seem like your bag - at least give the musicians the courtesy of having a chance to reel you back in with the rest of the song that they put their heart and soul into creating.

Plus, some stuff just isn't catchy first time round but you may come to love it and will stay with you for the rest of your life.
