Listening to Northern Soul Connoisseurs at the minute, and in doing so I've just remembered how awesome to Contours were. Up there with Gladys Knight and the Pips for me...

In fact I like the Dead too, and wish more people would play some of their songs in a funk style.

My old band played Shakedown Street. We used to fnk that one up a bit, as it lends itself to it. Here's some young kids giving it a shot:

I am sad, one of my favorite funk songs is Brick house, but my current band plays it all the time, and I'm getting tired of it. Maybe we need to let it rest for a while.
