I like the solemn, simple beginning, with the snap clap clap snap, the playful electronic sounds and vocal line, sounding like a robot. The combination of human sounds, the screaming contrasting with the clean instrumentals, was interesting. Is that a sound of someone making “raspberry” sounds with the lips? I liked that sound a lot! I wish I could hear more of the screamed lyrics better...I’ll listen again...they are screaming about the tediousness of a boardroom meeting...eating bagels, etc. Ah... “the meeting grinds on.” I love the pent-up anger of sitting in some boring boardroom meeting coming out in this song, especially the screamed line about getting the food and the screamed “Thank you.”
Yep, that whole beat is made up of mouth and hand sounds from yours truly.

In answer your curiosity, the song is meant as a satirical jab at corporate culture (and partially at my old boss, who the "king monkey" character is based on), as the lyrics describe utter chaos happening in the streets while up in a high rise office building a hum drum meeting continues on, oblivious. Here are the lyrics if you're interested:

The building stands hard and gray,
set back from the street.
A forty story New Brutalist nightmare
casts its shadow on the plaza below.
Elevators pump up and down
like slow moving pistons.
Rows of doors and cubicles
every level the same.

Chorus:
Riot!
Violence!
Outside
in the streets.
The tower
ticks along
above.
Above!

On the twenty-eighth floor
monkeys in sport coats descend
on the boardroom, binders in hand,
all hairplugs and denture-breath.

Chorus:
Chaos!
Mob rule!
Outside
the windows.
The meeting
continues,
they've soundproofed
the glass.

Buzzwords tend to spill from monkey mouths
when you get them in groups:
practice due diligence, review all your metrics,
hone your Sarbanes-Oxley dodge.

Chorus:
Snipers!
Fire!
Bodies
in the streets.
Coffee!
No sugar!
A bagel,
thank you.

The king monkey beats his chest,
comb-over like a glorious gray rainbow.
These layoffs will line his pockets
and buy a new home in Pensacola.

Chorus:
Burning!
Looting!
Throngs out
of control.
Memo!
Minutes!
The meeting
grinds on.

I like the funky rhythm, in which the silences become important. I also enjoyed the amusing flute plus other sounds, like the knocking rasping one. Around 1:15 the beat picks up. I can’t hear what the screamer is screaming. Is that you fake-opera singing? Oh! A trumpet! That was unexpected. I want to learn to play the trumpet, so the unpretty sounds of this trumpet interested me. It sounded very elephant-like. The layering of different beat patterns was my favorite part of this playful song.
The vocals are just random shouting from me and my bandmate, we aren't saying any actual words.

Thanks for typing out the approximate lyrics!

Hey, I thought people were supposed to get the munchies, not get thirsty!
yeah Jef was a freak behind the kit. there are plenty of times where we saw him smoke, drink, sing, and play one handed beats with rolls all at the same time.

as for myself i normally alternated between guitar and bass, on these tracks i only play guitar on the first one. only ever 'sang' once (was way loaded).

as for smokeables, you get the pasties/dry mouth before you get the munchies hahaha

DF - Saving and Enslaving the World: I quite like the film noiresque, sophisticated sound this gives off, whilst being a bit crude and raw; shoegazey, in the end. The sound quality hurts a little bit, but hey, I could definitely see this on an album, good guitar work.

Dave, Evan, and Jef - Sail To the Sun: Shoegazey and a bit trippy. In a way, a bit like Loop. The sound quality still hurts, but if one soldiers on this is rather enjoyable and impressive. It's also a bit doomy at times

Panda Go Panda - Rather Warm, But Wet: This is reminiscent of a riff that's really popular, but I can't for the life of me remember what it is. Interesting.

Your work is rather impressive, quite professional albeit too lo-fi.

Unchained Ballad - Somber Ways
:This is just something I came up with in a few minutes. I sort of imagined someone running through thick woodland at night in slow motion, for some reason. I'm not too happy with the end, it's a bit Mario Brother's-esque.

Unchained Ballad - The Wanderer
: I had the instrumental done and decided I'd add sparse, vague, ethereal vocals. They ended up fitting the idea I had. A journey into nowhere, a rover, roaming about.

Unchained Ballad - Whale: Well I don't know. I had this little instrumental idealized, and decided I'd try and sing along. I think I more or less poured my soul into it, even if the singing might not be too good.
It's called Whale because I had no bloody idea what to call it and then realised I was practically wailing about (even if the song does have lyrics). It also sounded a bit underwaterish, with all the echo and what not.

All my songs have poor quality because they were recorded on a lappy mic and It's only me and my guitar with some echo effects, reverb and things of the sort.

Vatos Locos Guitarristas - Los Caballeros del san Mondell: This song goes from being quirky and fun to absolutely glorious. Great work, tore. I had to congratulate you right after I heard this song. The title is quite spot on as well.

Mette Marit - Flammenes Regit: Drastic change in style. Energetic, creative, rather professional. I approve!

Sorry for the lack of reviews and for being disgustingly late. I'll finish this later.

I'm also pervertedly late due to the fact I've been busy or without internet since just before the comp was released, but .. My vacation ends on sunday, so then I'll try and catch up.

Beautiful lines in bold above, Janszoon. I like the poetic imigary. I also like the structure of your lyrics, in which the second half (underlined above) of the stanzas that alternate throughout the song describe what is happening inside the building, while the first half describes the street scene. The juxtoposition of the polite word "thank you" and the fact that it is screamed is still my favorite moment of all! Thanks for posting the lyrics.

It's too bad you don't have video of Jef (and he gave permission to post it)! He sounds like a sight to see and not just hear.

Ahh...pasties/dry mouth occur *before* the munchies. I did not know that! A significant other who had smoked a lot in his college years never mentioned the order in which physiological effects occurred, and I didn't know enough to ask. Good to know. Good to know.

impressive AND professional? thanks never thought anyone would consider it as professional from any perspective (especially us hehehe). agreed on the low quality diminishing the overall output, but, when it's all you've got, it's all you've got.

I find it feels professional, perhaps it's because it sounds confident or something of the sort.

Regarding that last bit, you're absolutely right. That shouldn't be something that stops you from creating good music as well.
