Depends on what your definition of the award is. Some consider it best player in the league, some consider it most important to your team. For the writers that believe the latter, James shot himself in the foot for votes by signing with a stacked team. I never understood why pro sports leagues don't define their awards more concretely.

BUT

he still has so much room for improvement. I think we are in store for something special. I kinda wish they'd lose this series to force LBJ to improve his game drastically.

Possible future roadblocks for the MoHeatOs:

Lakers

Thunder

Wherever Howard re-signs.

Wherever Blake re-signs(not happening with the clips).

Bulls? They'd have to make some fairly big roster changes, they've hamstrung themselves with Korver and Boozer.

Knicks - If Melo learns to play D, Amar'e's knees hold up, they fire D'antoni, get a defensive coach and also grab a few more solid players.

Wherever CP3 re-signs.

LeBron's jumper is silky right now and he has all the confidence in the world shooting it. I haven't seen LBJ be so effective without constantly driving like I saw in Game 1. That 3 pointer at the end of the 3rd was so ridiculous and he made it look so easy. LBJ definetly has a case for MVP. Yes he has some stars around him, but he is the alpha dog on that team. I can't argue against LeBron as MVP any year, he averages like 27PPG, 7Rebounds and 7 assists and plays great defense. The Bulls owe equally as much of their success to Thibodeau. The defense is what made the Bulls so great this year. Unfortunately for them, there's no defense that can stop a guy like LeBron when he's feeling it. I laugh at people who say there's no defense in the NBA.

And I really don't think the Heat are gonna be challenged much over these next handful of years. Thunder are gonna be west powerhouses for a long time and the Lakers will always be the Lakers with Kobe there. BUT they are in the west and the Heat really don't have to worry about them til the finals if they meet up. And the west is like a gauntlet so it's no given, it's not like anyone predicted the Mavs to win the west.

Howard said he is staying in Orlando but he also said he wants a great team built around him. I think he's putting pressure on Orlando do bring in some great talent, and although it was a mistake to brng in Arenas, I do think the Magic have been trying harder than, say the Cavs with LBJ. If he signs somewhere in the east, they'll be a legit roadblock for the Heat. So will the Bulls, they've got Rose and a great defense but they have some holes to fill on the perimeter. It's truly amazng bums like Bogans still have a job. I can't take the Knicks seriously at all... I mean really, who wins championships playing no defense? Amare doesn't play defense and Melo gets lazy. Combined with the least defensive oriented coach on the NBA, they have no chance at a title.

I think it's to promote the discussion. If it was concrete then nobody would be talking about the MVP as much and hyping up the players. It'd be more clear cut who the MVP is if it were defined. I kinda like the way it is to be honest, it's entirely subjective and people have different grounds on why they vote for someone. I still woulda gave it to LeBron this year though. Once again, he's given ridiculous expectations and finds ways to surpass them still.

after seeing g1, I'm pretty damn sure the Heat win. what I hadn't accounted for was LBJ taking Terry completely out of the game. without Terry, it's over. I still seeing them taking it to 5 or 6 because their role-players will shoot better at some point, but I would be amazed if they managed to win it all.

Well, I'll just continue to believe the Mavs have the advantage, if that's okay. I'd really hate to see Miami take it again.

That's fine, I hope the Mavs win in 7, but I know it's just not happening too.

@ dirty - yep, most everyone outside souf beach is ****t, but I was just spitballing who might have enough to dethrone them.

Sljslj 06-02-2011 07:00 PM

Woot! Game time! Let's go Mavs!

___ 06-02-2011 07:03 PM

Suck my Dirk Miami!

Go Mavs!

Sljslj 06-02-2011 08:52 PM

This is bad, this is just bad.

Twenty four seconds left, MAVS made a brilliant come back but it's tied ninety three- ninety three.

[Edit] And Dallas Mavericks took it!

debaserr 06-02-2011 11:07 PM

wow, best game of the playoffs.

Bloozcrooz 06-03-2011 05:41 AM

Man I went to sleep after Lbj knocked knowcked down a three that put them up by like 17 or something crazy like that. Then woke up a lil later, and flipped to Espn, and saw the Mavs went on a 17-2 run? Wtf? What happened to that stiffling deffense that they executed against Boston and Chicago? They actually reminded me of Chicago folding in the 4rth like when they were playing Miami just a week ago. I seriously thought that the Heat had this game in the bag, but give it to the Mavs cuz they showed resiliancy and hung in there.

I will add this though that after watching Lebron perform the way he has throughout the season and especially these playoff's, and finals. I would have to give credit where its due, and say he's definatley the best all around player in the league. Im not on his band wagon or anything, but the guy is just phenominal. I wouldnt be suprised to see him get 30 or 40 pts next game.
