Though they were my favorite two college players last year Love and Lopez are certainly hit or miss prospects, also the draft lottery is clearly fixed.

I think Rose will be great with the Bulls next year. Beasley, I'm not so sure. I'll bet he could easily get 20 a night, but he'll probably take 22 shots like Durant did.
At some point, you have to wonder how much these guys like Arenas, B. Davis, Iverson, and Durant are hurting their teams. Grant it, they're fun to watch, but their shooting percentages are atrocious.

ProggyMan 05-23-2008 10:45 PM

Yah, I love Lopez, and I think he's got a great upside, and certainly worth the risk.

Yeah right, that's probably what they thought about Jason and Jarron Collins.

The Collins brothers never were scorers anything like Lopez is. Brooke is taller, more athletic and more skilled. Robin may be the third (skinniest) Collins brother by NBA standards, but Brooke could be a star.

ProggyMan 05-24-2008 09:28 AM

He's (Robin) 5 more pounds than Brook, more skilled defensively and a better finisher. It's the athleticism, post moves, and jumper that set Brook apart.

Carmelo = Glenn Robinson, Jamal Mashburn etc. All-star not superstar

D Wade = Not tough; injuries have slowed him physically, needs to develop his jump shot to remain in superstar debate.

Bosh = KG lite, not sure he's a superstar though he could become one.

Oden = TBD

Durant = May end up in that Mello category. Had a tough time as a rookie on a awful team. Clearly NBA starter skills, but he may be a 2nd option at best. Still TBD

I also think Dwight Howard could become a superstar; McGrady and KG still have superstar talent; KG is a superstar, but sometimes he forgets that. McGrady needs a chance to be on a great team before we close the book on him (he's not even 30 yet) but so far he has not gotten it done when it matters most.

Here's a list for discussion:

NBA's top 50 (+ = rising & - = falling)

1. Kobe Bean
2. Tim Duncan (-)
3. Lebron James (+)
4. Kevin Garnett
5. Chris Paul (+)
6. Tracy McGrady
7. Dwight Howard (+)
8. Deron Williams (+)
9. Dirk Nowitzki
10. Yao Ming
11. Dwayne Wade (-)
12. Chris Bosh (+)
13. Allen Iverson (-)
14. Rasheed Wallace
15. Carmelo Anthony
16. Paul Pierce
17. Jason Kidd (-)
18. Joe Johnson (+)
19. Amare Stoudamire
20. Carlos Boozer
21. Antwan Jamison
22. Caron Butler
23. Chauncy Billups
24. Steve Nash (-)
25. Vince Carter (-)
26. Baron Davis
27. Josh Howard (+)
28. Al Jefferson (+)
29. Gilbert Arenas (-)
30. Richard Hamilton
31. David West (+)
32. Tony Parker (+)
33. Manu Ginobili (+)
34. Michael Redd
35. Richard Jefferson
36. Andre Igodula (+)
37. Tayshaun Prince (+)
38. Kevin Martin (+)
39. Pau Gasol
40. Marcus Camby (-)
41. Rashard Lewis

46. Jason Richardson
47. Kevin Durant (+)
48. Shawn Marion (-)
49. Brandon Roy (+)
50. Shaquille O'Neal (-)

Josh Smith should be at 40 with everyone else dropping a spot.

ProggyMan 05-24-2008 10:18 AM

Woooaaah, you know Wade's fully healthy for the first time in 2 years, and he'll have a team that's actually pretty good this year. Here's to hoping they get Beasley.

NoseClams 05-26-2008 03:16 PM

so the celtics picked up their first road win! now they are leading the series 2 -1. as long as they can remain solid with their defense and stick with their usual home game performance they should be able to pick up the series.

Yeah but road woes still haunt them....Series now 2-2

Sparky 05-28-2008 04:09 PM

its tight on them spurs :)

Laces Out Dan! 05-28-2008 04:59 PM

yea, I knew the Lakers (Kobe) would be a bad match for the Spurs...mind you, they're a bad match for every team. Even defensive minded teams cant stop them (him).

bsmix 05-28-2008 05:08 PM

haha. He is an unstoppable force (MVP)

ProggyMan 05-28-2008 05:09 PM

The Lakers are going to be on top for years, with Kobe just beginning what should be the prime of his career (Mind you he came out of high school, but still) , Gasol is only 27, Bynum's what, 20? Farmar should turn out great, and their bench is young and deep. They're pretty much set for another 10 years of relevance.

asparagus 05-30-2008 03:00 AM

so who do you think is gonna win between pistons/celtics????

and do you think the lakers are gonna win the championship?????

go lakers! i'm happy they won yesterday!
and also, kobe has become more of a team player! he's not a ball hogger anymore! at least not as much! i think that is one of the reasons why he got the MVP award...he's been thought of as an MVP for the past several years and he hasn't won it until this year and i think his passing of the ball helped..

NoseClams 06-01-2008 01:41 PM

well its a beautiful thing that it will be a lakers/celtics championship! i will be rooting for the Celtics but i think this will be close, but slightly in the lakers favor.

ProggyMan 06-01-2008 06:30 PM

Lakers in 5. Sorry Celtic's fans.

Amen.

Son of JayJamJah 06-01-2008 08:51 PM

This could be a terrible NBA finals.

Even the refs won't be able to save the Celtics and its doubtful the Lakers, having Kobe, will ever fold like the Pistons did in the 4th quarter game six.

Sparky 06-01-2008 09:00 PM

I really don't know who will win this. But my gut is saying celtics.

Anywho, spurs are out. So either one ill be happy with :)

Yah, it's too bad the Celtics are looking so tired now. Otherwise they might have taken it to 7 games. As it is they'll get blown away.

Laces Out Dan! 06-01-2008 10:02 PM

This is gonna be an amazing finals. Im really amped for it. I think an X Factor in this series for LA is gonna be Farmar. He's been playin well as of late after struggling for a while.

ProggyMan 06-01-2008 10:06 PM

Yah, Point is the key position in this series.

Civic Depreciator 06-02-2008 04:13 AM

Hey, I've got no problem with the Celtics getting blown out. :nono: Although I do admit, an exciting finale would be fun (as long as the Lakers still come out victorious). :thumb:

Miltamec Soundsquinaez 06-03-2008 10:14 PM

I'm still sticking with the Celtics......
for a minute I was about to change to the Lakers, but then I realized they've (Celtics) got 3 grizzled vets who've been trying to win this thing for about a decade, and they'll have a chip on their shoulder because Lakers are favored even though the Celtics won 66.
It's the COS factor......you've got to take it into account any time you're picking sports games.

Same could be said for Ray Allen on Boston's side.

bsmix 06-05-2008 10:11 PM

Gotta love getting carried off in a wheelchair cryin and come runnin out in 10 mins. yay!! hes ok!!! The celts better have won this... but I was sad with Kobe shooting crazy from the 1st.

NoseClams 06-05-2008 10:51 PM

Celts Pick Up Game One!!!!

British_pharaoh 06-06-2008 06:51 AM

can you believe I missed game 1???

thats the problem with England

there's nothing to remind me about it on TV or the radio

Laces Out Dan! 06-06-2008 02:27 PM

Paul Pierce's antics last night were retarded. What a pussy. He made it look like he was dying and then no more than 10 minutes later he comes running back in jumping around. Total piece of garbage, always hated him..this gives me even more merit.

Sparky 06-06-2008 03:16 PM

...and your rooting for Kobe :-/

Even if you do hate his "acting"(something that has nothing to do with his performance)

you can't deny that the laker's got STOMPED :p
Man i hope boston can pull this through, im skeptical of them being able to pick up a road victory though,

Laces Out Dan! 06-06-2008 03:19 PM

yea I am rooting for Kobe, and the team that he's made so much better around him this season. Especially in the last stretch.

I think they'll go down in 5 or 6. Kobe tryed to spread it around last night, didn't work. He's going for at least 40 tomorrow tonight.

Next game is Sunday 9 pm EST

TheBig3 06-06-2008 10:01 PM

Too bad the Celts are 3 games away from the shut out. Take that you vapid, west coast, superficial bags of douche...and your basketball team.

Laces Out Dan! 06-06-2008 10:22 PM

Do you mean...3 games away from the sweep?

No, he apparently means 3 games away from a 9 inning masterpiece pitched by Pedro Martinez. Heh, I have to agree with him on the west coast thing though. I used to love the west coast. Now, I'm really starting to hate it. I like the big cities in CA, other than that, I despise driving through there.

bsmix 06-07-2008 01:01 AM

yeah way too much good weather and diversity. who would even want to live there?

Throw in the enormous cost of living, and slaves to commercialism, and I'll take Missouri any day.

The Lakers are still a better team.
