Italy have a goal back but still trail 2-1 and the other game is still 0-0.

Just one goal from NZ would still do it. I'd love to see it.

I was gonna say it's back to 3-1 for Slovakia, but Italy have pegged it back to a one goal margin...again. Sounds like a hell of a game - shame I'm busy staring at this screen waiting for some moron spammer to pop up or something instead.

Its such a shame that NZ didnt get their goal but at least Italy are out!

Yes, Italy is out! I can feel sympathy for them, though, they struggled so hard during the last 45 minutes. Still though, one half of good play doesn't make up for five halves of absolute rubbish.

At least NZ finished unbeaten too. I really expected them to be the whipping boys of the group. Talking of the group, Paraguay were far and away the best team in it, so they deserve to progress.

Italy are out but what a classic match, without doubt the best so far for sheer excitement.

As the trenches are being dug, I`m also confident that England will beat Germany as well, their biggest enemy as always will be the press that as usual see Germany as some kind of invincible side.

England are a confidence team and the confidence is now with them, whereas Germany just plough away regardless of what has passed in previous matches.

Oh well, it's a shame NZ didn't make the cut but they played well. Remaining unbeaten against Italy, Paraguay and Slovakia is certainly commendable and I didn't think they would manage a draw against Paraguay (whom I've always liked) but what do you know!

And it's nice to see something other than rugby in the limelight at this time of the year.

New Zealand did incredibly well to be in with a chance of topping that group right up until the very last second of the last minute of their final game. Its a shame but as Bulldog said, i thought they were going to be this groups whipping boys so they certainly havent shamed themselves!
