How many goals will Brazil beat us by tomorrow night then?

I'll go with 2

Big Ears 02-05-2013 02:31 PM

I'll probably watch one of the documentaries on railways instead.

Goofle 02-05-2013 03:07 PM

I'll be watching because Ronaldinho is in the squad.

:)

He is destined for greatness.

Goofle 02-05-2013 03:37 PM

He is already in that category for me. But Ronnie coming up against Wilshere would be amazing for me personally.

Would you say Neymar is world class now? I know that's quite subjective in itself but he is making a lot of noise and looks awesome, his record for Brazil is phenomenal for anybody's age let alone a 20 year old. Best player to come out of Brazil in a decade at least. Only 4 players have scored 100 career goals before the age of 20; Pele, Maradona, Messi and... Neymar. Like I say he is sure to have a legendary career.

As for Dinho I agree, I'll be watching for him definitely. One of the 3 most exciting footballers I've ever seen (the other two being Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.)

Goofle 02-05-2013 04:30 PM

I would definitely say Neymar is World Class already.

Goofle 02-06-2013 01:11 PM

No weekly update on how overrated Rooney is?

Big Ears 02-06-2013 01:42 PM

England 1 - 1 Brazil at the start of the second half. England squander a lead for the umpteenth time.

2-1 now. Go England.

Goofle 02-06-2013 01:58 PM

Amazing from Lampard. Unreal footballer.

Thought he was crap tonight. Rolled the ball into an empty net though, world class finish so kudos to him.

Neymar was crap as well. As was Ronaldinho.

Wilshere was awesome.

Yep. Likeable player as well, comes across as very intelligent.

Big Ears 02-06-2013 03:03 PM

Well, we won, but by the skin of our teeth (even if we were at home).

Rooney was good tonight. And he has been immense for United recently (which was what I was referring to more than anything else).

This is one of those instances where blind hatred can get the best of you. Rooney has been exceptional as of late. I did chuckle at the Rooney rendition of Unforgettable, but the guy deserves credit when his game is on, as much as he deserves credit when he is invisible.

Who cares about the England/Brazil game.
Didn't you guys hear?!?!

Scotland beat Estonia!

I don't hate Rooney I just think he's overrated. He has been good since the Fulham cup game but then was poor for months before that. It is well known that he's a hot and cold player.

Absolute bollocks!

How is that bollocks? Rooney's goals come in patches for a start, he scores loads for a few weeks then none for a month. Repeat. His career has constantly been like that, shifting between playing well and playing awful and the latter is more frequent.

If Rooney got back to back seasons where he was consistent, in the same sort of form he had in 2009/10, then there would be no doubt he is world class. Van Persie, Messi, Xavi, Ronaldo, you name the truly world class players... They have all been consistently good at the top level. Rooney hasn't.

right-track 02-07-2013 12:29 PM

League Goals for the last 4 seasons;
2009/10 Apps: 32 Goals: 26
2010/11 Apps: 28 Goals: 11
2011/12 Apps: 34 Goals: 27
2012/13 Apps: 17 Goals: 10 (so far. also top in assists)

How can you even argue with that? Do the stats/hard facts above suggest a player who is overated and inconsistent? No it doesn't!
He has games where he isn't in top form. Big deal, he's human. Even then he always gives 100% and his overall consistency is as good, if not better than any other player in the Premier League.

Admit it. You're just a bitter, lemon sucking ABU...

right-track 02-07-2013 12:32 PM

I can't believe you criticise a player for scoring loads for a few weeks, then non for a month.
Stop being a knob!

Rooney's always been a consistent player, it just so happens when he goes through a dry spell in scoring goals, the whole world seems to notice. His game has always been much more than just scoring. Also the Rooney that plays for Utd is a very different player at times than the one in an England shirt, but then again England has a history of great players falling short when playing for the national side.

Gives 100% effort? Did you not watch the Euros?

2011 his head was in a mess because he's a knob who cheated on his wife. 11 league goals is not good enough for a world class striker. Was Kevin Philips world class when he scored 30 in 2000? I think the fact you're arguing against him being inconsistent but then proceed to post stats where his goal return reads 26, 11, 27, 10 merely proves my point.

Hardly an ABU...

Those are all in the United end btw. I've seen United play home and away in the league, Champions League and both Cups, not even including games I've not got stubs for like Inter 2-0 in 2009 and Blackburn away where Evra did the Rafa salute and the league was all but won.

ABU :D

Rooney offers goals and not much else. He has always been hot and cold. These are not even up for debate.

He's a very good player with consistency problems.

right-track 02-07-2013 12:49 PM

11 goals in 28 appearances isn't good?

right-track 02-07-2013 12:51 PM

Wayne Rooney suffers a temporary loss of form, which doesn't reflect his overall ability as a footballer and you're all over him.
Fool.
It seems to me you desperately want him to fail for the thinly veiled reason included in your posts.
Truth is you just don't like him. It has nothing to do with his ability!

How many other 'world class' strikers average a goal every 3 games?

Van Persie - no
Falcao - no
Villa - no
Ibrahimovic - no
Cavani - no

Rooney isn't world class.

right-track 02-07-2013 12:54 PM

So a ratio of almost 1 goal per every 2 games for a footballer who isn't an out and out striker isn't good enough, despite the fact that was his worse return in 4 seasons?

And you support who now?

Cuthbert 02-07-2013 01:01 PM

It's closer to 1 goal every 3 games.

All this "he offers more than goals" shtick is just trying to gloss over the fact Rooney hasn't fulfilled his potential. His all round game is actually pretty average. He's not a good passer considering he often plays as a trequartista, he is not the finisher he was when he was a teenager, the Rooney of old would leather the ball and was very clinical whereas he's missed tons of sitters this season alone. He is very good, but needs to sort his consistency out.

Why would I want Rooney to fail? I'm English.

My local team.

I thought I was an ABU though?

right-track 02-07-2013 01:06 PM

Hiding behind an handful of ticket stubs doesn't cut any ice with me.
You have to be born a red. It's in the blood! It's in the soul! Once a red, always a red.

right-track 02-07-2013 01:10 PM

I'd rather take shit off a through and through loyal Scouser, than a scarf swapping, out of town glory hunter. And that's saying something!

But you did say I was an ABU. I grew up supporting them but they aren't my local team, as I got older I decided to follow my local team. What a crime. I've traveled all over to see United play anyway.

You're going off topic though.

Heard it all before :p:

If I was a glory hunter, surely I'd still follow United and not a team who will probably be in the Championship next year?

Because you make ridiculous and unreasonable claims based on what appears to be a biased opinion.
Despite the facts. It's beyond a matter of opinion.

Biased how? So because I don't agree, that means I'm biased?

right-track 02-07-2013 01:23 PM

You're biased because you just don't like the man.

right-track 02-07-2013 01:24 PM

I couldn't care less if he was a serial killer. So long as he returns stats like he has for the cause.
Admit it...you just don't like the guy for personal reasons...
