Don't think I've mentioned it before, but I am a fan of Christian Benteke.

Goofle 12-20-2014 12:20 PM

Who?

Cuthbert 12-20-2014 12:34 PM

:p:

He's got it all. Another belter with his weak foot. Not much else to say.

& big Jores was man of the match. Pleased for him.

Need to keep hold of these two.

Cuthbert 01-17-2015 11:44 AM

We're going to be relegated. Five games on the bounce without even scoring a single goal. I've had enough. #LambertOut

Hopefully Arsenal win tomorrow, want them to get top four and MU to fall off.

Hilarious on MOTD when Lineker said, "What do you think of Lambert's position?" and Gullit started waffling on about RICKY Lambert!
Villa are no laughing matter though. :( Manish, here we come. Have to wait up an extra hour next season to see them stumble through a game.

Cuthbert 01-18-2015 09:19 AM

Goof are you streaming this Arsenal match? inb4 watching on Sky.

Goofle 01-18-2015 09:46 AM

On Sky at the Grandads.

Big performance so far.

Cuthbert 01-18-2015 10:12 AM

Struggle for streams these days since Wizi & FSI went.

Arsenal are gonna bottle this. Can see it coming from a mile off.

Goofle 01-18-2015 10:16 AM

Streamsp.com is the one I usually use. Isn't always online or showing the match you want through.

Arsenal have a few players out inc. Alexis Sanchez, Delph returns, Clark out and Baker in.

Goose; Cissokho, Okore, Baker, Scottish Cafu; Sanchez, Delph, Westwood; Benny Gil, Tekkers, Weimann

2-1 Villa. It's gonna happen

Goofle 02-01-2015 10:25 AM

**ahem**

Cuthbert 02-01-2015 01:25 PM

Not too good after today.

Trollheart 02-02-2015 01:41 PM

Best thing for us, I said it before, is to go down. We're just not trying; we have the players, but they just don't seem bothered. I mean, how many times did we give the ball away to Arsenal? It's like we've already decided we're heading down and don't give two ****s. No goals in how many ****ing hours of football? Ten? Not good enough, not even close. Need to shake all the players up, lose Benteke and Weiman probably, if we have to, but it might knock some sense into us. Even midtable survival is not a god-given right, and you have to fight for your place, or you're goin' to Snaketown!

Cuthbert 02-02-2015 02:04 PM

Getting relegated would be a disaster for us, it would affect us more than most clubs. Nobody would buy us, we'd lose all our top players and it would take us years to recover & come back up.

It's not the players that are the issue. They have to take some of the blame (especially Gabby, Benteke & N'Zogbia) but the real problem is Lambert, he's a chancer. We have changed our personnel, approach w/ regards to the transfer market & style of play multiple times, he is the one constant of the past three years.

If I wasn't a Villa fan I'd honestly want us gone, we're stinking up the league and robbing a place in the Premier League off clubs who can actually entertain and want to have a go at scoring.

Villa think their place in the Premiership is a god-given right. Sure, it could be really bad if/when we went down, but it would shake up all those egos who think there's no way we're gonna end up in the Championship.

Agree about Lambert, but I'm always loath to put all the blame on the manager's shoulders. Guys here need to step up. Compete, for ****'s sake. Arsenal could have won without even turning up last week. We were lucky to get nil!

Cuthbert 02-03-2015 03:05 PM

In this day and age, getting relegated is an economic disaster. We're already on a budget, we'd be fucked without the Premier League money. There is no guarantee we'd come back either given our track record under Lambert against lower league sides in cup competitions.

100% Lambert (and Lerner's) fault.

Guzan - very good PL goalkeeper, USA's number 1

Jores Okore - Danish international, very highly rated young CB
Ciaran Clark - Irish international, made massive strides this season
Alan Hutton - Scottish international, Scottish Cafu etc
Ron Vlaar - Dutch international, stand out player at the World Cup

Fabian Delph - English international, best midfielder at the club
Carles Gil - Valencia fans wanted to keep him, typical tricky little Spaniard
Carlos Sanchez - Colombian international

Christian Benteke - Belgian international, one of the top young strikers in Europe

This squad is easily capable of finishing 9th-12th. Need to sack him before it's too late.

Goofle 02-03-2015 03:10 PM

Most of the players you listed there are pretty poor in all fairness. Sure, not relegation standard but it's hardly like you have a team capable of finishing 9th.

Cuthbert 02-03-2015 03:11 PM

Which ones are the poor players? I'm guessing you'll say Okore after the 5-0 and Guzan but who are the others? Vlaar?

Goofle 02-03-2015 03:49 PM

Guzan, Clark, Hutton and Sanchez mainly. Not seen much of Okore, and Vlaar isn't really "poor" (I'd say mid table standard).

Anyway, Arsenal are in fantastic form at the moment. Unbelievable midfield chemistry, especially Cazorla and Ramsey. Those guys work so well as the two oh was of the DM. Pass, defend, get forward. Magical.

Now bring Alexis back in the team in place of Theo and we might actually field our best XI for the first time this season.

-----------------------Ospina
Bellerin---Mertesacker---Koscielny---Monreal
----------------------Coquelin
--------------------------------Cazorla
----------------Ramsey
Özil--------------------------------------Alexis
-----------------------Giroud

Trollheart 02-03-2015 04:14 PM

Again, I disagree. People like Benteke have to grow a pair and stop being so ****ing stupid. If he hadn't blown up and been sent off, missing three games we might (might) have got somewhere. But even if he is so great, where the hell are all the goals? Every time he gets near the target he fluffs his lines. Hardly what you'd want as your top striker. And what about Gabby? Why isn't he playing?

You can level some criticism at Lambert, sure, but to say it's 100% his fault is just an example of the cockiness and refusal to take responsibility prevalent in the Villa team at the moment.

As so many players and ex-players have said in the past, prove them wrong and do your talking on the field. You can coach like a demon but if the players aren't interested then there's little you can do. And last week our guys did not give one solitary flying ****. QPR would have beaten them. That's right, I said QPR!

**** it! A team made up of me, my bedbound sister and our cats, with some cardboard cutouts would have beaten them. They should hang their heads in shame, then get it the **** together before it's too late.

Cuthbert 02-03-2015 05:01 PM

Gabby isn't playing because he's piled on the pork to the extent where he's lost his only attribute (pace). Seriously looks like a light heavyweight boxer now. He does nothing, if he wasn't a Brummie he'd have been let go imo.

Benteke was stupid, but he's saved us enough times. Nobody should be doubting his quality. We're lucky if we manage to get a single shot on target in games, he has basically no service, you can't expect him to smash them in being fed by dickheads like Cleverley. I just know when he fucks off to Spurs and has better players around him, he's gonna explode and hit 30+ in a season.

The players should take responsibility but this is Lambert & Lerner's fault. When I can be arsed I'll post up his records he's achieved at Villa (longest run without a goal/lowest amount of home wins/most defeats on the bounce -- all of these in our history, + we're on course to beat Derby for worst ever PL side in terms of goals scored) and when you see the cold hard facts it really is amazing he's still in a job.

Cuthbert 02-04-2015 02:12 PM

Good match in the FA Cup.

Goofle's boys winning 1-0

Goofle 02-04-2015 02:20 PM

Get in lads. Hoping for an away draw there at some point. Would be amazing.

Cuthbert 02-04-2015 02:24 PM

Bolton defending like beavers here. Another tough team getting knocked out can only be good for us.

Cuthbert 02-04-2015 02:30 PM

My don Raheem

FRED HALE SR. 02-05-2015 03:31 PM

How did Diego Costa end up against that African guy that Mankycaant was propping? LOL

Cuthbert 02-05-2015 03:40 PM

Lukaku?

Goofle did really well on that one.

By the way does anyone remember my Balotelli posts :D? Permanently dropped ffs :D.

Go Gunners.

Cuthbert 02-10-2015 03:27 PM

Does anyone here think we'll stay up?

All over imo.

Goofle 02-10-2015 03:53 PM

I think you will.

Also, my former man Balotelli bashing in Sp*rs. :)

Mojo 02-10-2015 04:01 PM

Painful, abysmal performance from Sunderland tonight. Rob Green pulled two or three very, very good saves out of the bag and Zamoras finish was sublime, but Jesus effing Christ that was a shocker of a performance.

Listening to Talksport and they had one of your fans on, he said you play the worst football of all the teams he's seen in a long time.

He's in for a shock when we come to Sunderland

Mojo 02-10-2015 04:25 PM

Your lot have already been up here. It was a boring 0-0, which is about right. There's a reason we've been last on MOTD the most this season.

Cuthbert 02-10-2015 04:55 PM

14th March, Sunderland vs Aston Villa mate

Was a 0-0 at VP over Christmas.

Mojo 02-10-2015 05:48 PM

Oh aye thats right. It was at Villa Park, the one I'm thinking of. I should know that too, considering I was just talking about tickets for the Villa game the other day.

Trollheart 02-12-2015 05:53 PM

See you on TFLS monkey! I assume you're ex-Christian Benteke, yes? :(
