Seems like everyone hates them, is it because of the stadium? I don't seem to remember anybody really talking about them prior to that.

They think they're bigger than they are (we won the World Cup/academy of football), Cockneys generally being annoying and shouting their mouths off, plus they are kit stealers. They fiddled the league in 2006/7 with the Tevez/Mascherano transfers, Kia Joorabchian etc, and Sheffield United went down at their expense and only just got back up. They paid them about £20m in compensation but that's a fraction of what it has cost them missing out on PL football.

Obviously the stadium as well.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 02-03-2020 02:33 PM

Yeah, was aware of the Sheffield United thing. Might have all been for the best with where they are in the table this year tbh.

Interesting though, they have quite a few solid players so it really surprises me just how terrible they have been. Bad year for football in the Prem overall imo, league has been dead since December. Only thing I really care about is the relegation battle and even that seems like it's going to be over pretty quickly.

Cuthbert 02-03-2020 03:45 PM

Q have you heard of this guy - https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/spo...elona-17682986

He is meant to be a wonderkid. Keep an eye out for him, he might make his debut in the PL for us this season.

We stay up he goes nowhere, we don't need the money.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 02-08-2020 07:23 PM

Ye probably. Isn't a very reputable source. Just excited over the prospect of him joining us. Would be kinda disappointed if we got Maddison instead. Plus Jack is much more handsome imo.

Cuthbert 02-09-2020 09:36 AM

Been posting pics in the lounge, few on here showcasing their ridiculously high Internet standards. Picking flaws with Jack as if they wouldn't all suck him off in about 0.2 seconds.

Reminds me of Zac Efron.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 02-09-2020 10:12 AM

He should join United as we are a club for handsome footballers. Icons like Beckham and Ronaldo. Now Bruno followed suit and Jack could too.

We also keep Phil Jones around and added Harry Maguire to make them always look even better by comparison.

You may be joking but I do believe Jack has that appeal. A good Euros this summer could really announce him as a world star.

God I hope he stays.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 02-09-2020 01:50 PM

Joking about the handsome thing ofc but do really want us to target him if he's willing to leave. His performance is unbelievable when you consider the quality of players he is alongside. No slight to Villa but it is true.

Cuthbert 02-09-2020 02:09 PM

I know mate, tbh it's surprised me a little bit seeing how well he's progressed.

I assume you'll be supporting us in the final in three weeks?

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 02-09-2020 03:08 PM

Yeah, for sure. In the ideal world I think two of West Ham/Bournemouth/Brighton go down with Norwich. I have a special attachment to Villa from the Benteke days and I quite like the squad Watford have put together and would be a little bummed seeing them start over.

Combine that with Leeds and Forest getting promoted and I would be very pleased. Hate Leeds ofc but historically they just belong in the Prem, and Forest deserve another run.

Cuthbert 02-09-2020 04:32 PM

West Brom
Forest
Blues

The more Midland the merrier.

Cuthbert 02-14-2020 11:45 AM

Is this real life? Have the tramps actually been kicked out of European competition for two years? Surely they will just appeal and find a way back in.

We have more chance of playing in Europe next season than these because we qualify if we win the cup final.

WTF

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 02-14-2020 11:56 AM

Yes, club already released a statement saying they will appeal. Would be a joke if it wasn't upheld. Sad how long they were under suspicion before being fined though.

Will be interesting to see if they can hold onto any players. You would assume with the quality they have players will leave at first opportunity for UCL football.

Would love to have Silva or Sterling, too bad we're not a Champions league team

If you had to choose between a cup win and survival in the league which would it be?

Cuthbert 02-14-2020 12:52 PM

Mojo asked me that the year Sunderland got to the cup final and were close to relegation. At the time I said no because the game is about glory and I'd rather have it on the honours list over a year of PL status.

But that was the year before we went down. Having spent three years in the Championship and with the owners desperate to unleash their resources, survival comes first this season. We also want to expand VP and with the Commonwealth Games coming in 2022 the city needs as many of its clubs in the PL as possible imo.

Winning the Cup would be a dream though BTW.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 02-14-2020 12:57 PM

Makes sense, hopefully they can do both.

Cuthbert 02-14-2020 03:10 PM

On the News at Ten, Abu Dhabi FC have accused UEFA of being prejudiced against them :D

They should have every Sheikh era title stripped now its been proven they have cheated.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 02-14-2020 03:21 PM

We should be awarded the 2017-2018 title, meaning Jose won us the league. Therefore he should be reinstated and Ole should be fired immediately.

Never thought I'd be so desperate for Jo to return but 18 months of Ole ball will do that to you.

Cuthbert 03-01-2020 06:55 AM

Bit nervous now.

Honestly I think the soccer people should just embrace this as an expression of the absurdity of the times rather than worrying about PR fallout. I think everyone would appreciate it.

Oh and eat **** NY Post.

Birmingham City 17 year old wonderkid Jude Bellingham to Dortmund confirmed. Fee - £26million.

Smart kid, Dortmund is a great club, correct choice. Wish him all the best for his future, really hope he becomes a world star.

Such a shame the world is still being deprived of seeing Grealish suit up for Ole's Showtime Reds.

Would've rather us focus on him than waste our time on Sancho.

What do you think of him, how good do you really think he is?

He is a God to us. Hard to put into words how much he means.

Trollheart 12-21-2020 05:05 PM

Does anyone else find it bloody absurd how football (not soccer, **** off Batty! :D) is NOT setting an example with Covid? No face masks on the pitch, plenty of handshakes and hugs, players jumping on top of each other when one scores, and yet you get people like Klopp elbow-bumping and THEN hand shaking? And nobody - nobody - says anything about it!

Cuthbert 12-28-2020 03:41 PM

Thoughts on the table, Trolls?

First of all, Happy New Year mate. Let's hope things get sorted and we can return to the norms as much as possible.

Delighted to see Villa up there, though they certainly deserve it. I think the memory of Liverpool 2 - Villa 7 will always stay with me! :tramp: Need to hold on to Grealish though and I think that may be hard come summer. It's kind of establishing the old guard again at the top though innit? Man U getting back in the title race (have to hand it to Paperboy), Liverpool on top and Chelsea chasing, with Spurs on the way and Leicester there too. Arsenal not having a good time of it though, and Man City underperforming this season so far. Wonder if they'll be challenging? Interesting tussle between the two halves of Merseyside.

What are your thoughts on the FA's refusal to even consider the circuit breaker, especially with - who is it now, can't remember: Southampton? Everton? Someone anyway - whole club down with CV19? And Allardyce is pissing me off. Did you see how he half-wore his mask? If you're going to wear it, wear it right. ****er was chewing gum under it, ffs! And he would be in the high risk category! I don't think sport, and the Prem in particular, is taking this seriously enough. Players hugging each other, shaking hands, piling on, refs without masks... I foresee a lot more outbreaks in 2021.

Cuthbert 01-01-2021 04:55 AM

I don't want there to be another break in football. I don't know if it's the best thing to do for safety even, unless it's a long break, and then they won't be able to fit the fixtures in at any point. The players need to stop taking the piss and breaking restriction rules.

MU vs Villa tonight Trolls.

Ordinarily I'd say we don't have a shot, but you never know. Then again, the Scum have been getting back to winning ways so it could go either way. If they win does that put them top?

As for the rest, whatever your view on this "take a knee" thing, football should be leading by example and showing people how you need to protect yourself.

1. Masks for all players. Don't ****ing tell me strong fit athletes can't run and kick a ball with a mask on! Don't they do something like that when they have a facial injury?

2. Masks for refs/linesmen. Refs especially, getting in there among the mix.

3. ****ING YELLOW CARD for anyone caught without a mask on the field. NO EXCUSE. You're putting your teammates and everyone else on the field in danger. Do it twice and YOU ARE OFF. **** that ****.

4. Masks for managers and tech staff. Wear them properly too, Allardyce!

5. No touching/celebrations on scoring. Elbow bump, victory sign, some **** like that. Thumbs up. NO PILING ON ONE ANOTHER.

6. No handshakes. At all.

7. MOTD and other pundits call out breaches in covid regs on TV, name and shame.

8. Clubs who break rules get docked points. FTS.

The Batlord 01-01-2021 10:17 AM

Or just, ya know, don't do sports cause they're not actually important.

Or just, ya know, don't comment in threads you have no interest in and leave those who do to talk among themselves.

I mean you talk all this **** about people who aren't responsible about the epidemic but you still support sports happening at all just cause you like to watch it?

Actually, no. TBH I would prefer there was no sport while this is going on. My idea - which I suggested to nobody, and who would I - was to have the teams compete on a networked/online FIFA-style thing, so they could still play out the games but separately, at home. I'm sure they could have worked some way to get revenue - ads in between or something, or sponsorship - and everyone would a) get their footy and b) still be safe. It wouldn't be perfect by any means but it would have been safer.

I fully support the thinking that if you're going to insist on playing sports in a pandemic then you have to be ****-hot on the regs and make sure EVERYONE, from the chairmen on down, follow the safety rules, otherwise can it until everyone can be less sure of dying for a ****ing game which is all it is in the end. We'll survive, but like, no, they may literally not.
