To be honest I'd be a lot more bitter and miserable if I didn't have a load of other stuff to be doing! It's still an absolute pisser though, and the fact it's not the first time we've been mauled this season (Man U, Portsmouth, fucking Blackpool for chrissakes) makes it a bit worrying. We're the same team that's had a few great results so far this season, but the fact we can also be a great team one week and an absolutely shocking one the next is very frustrating.

You lot have Spurs and were off to Wigan.

It really could have been 12 or 13 aswell, Spurs missed a lot of great chances in the first half.

Bulldog 11-22-2009 05:41 PM

To be honest the biggest shock was Martinez not thumping that wanker of a reporter one in the post-match interview. Judging by his latest performances, Roy Keane would've knocked him out for the kinds of questions he was coming up with

Mojo 11-22-2009 05:47 PM

What interview? What happened? I mustn't have seen this.

Bulldog 11-22-2009 06:00 PM

The one on the BBC website. Dunno if it's the same one that goes out on Match Of the Day. At least that's what I, in that first, emotionally-shattered hour or so after the final whistle read into it. Can't remember the whole thing exactly, just a bunch of smug, sneering questions which might as well have just said 'are you embarrassed to be a Premier League manager now'?

right-track 11-23-2009 11:40 AM

Nice to see the Wigan players are going to personally refund the money back to those Wigan fans that travelled to White Hart Lane.

Cleaners in Ireland have decided their Henry vacuum cleaners really suck - after Thierry Henry's handball ended the nation's World Cup dream.
Angry workers can't bear to look at the smiley-faced machines. Some have painted out the word "Henry" while others have daubed over its cheerful face. BBC

Mojo 11-23-2009 11:45 AM

That may be a little over the top, but i got a kick out of it.

right-track 11-23-2009 11:55 AM

Out of what?
The players repaying the fans, or kicking your Henry vacuum cleaner?

Mojo 11-23-2009 11:58 AM

Heh definitely the "Henry Hoover".

I don't so much get a kick out of the Wigan thing, at least not in the same way but i think it's good of them. It's not exactly like they are under any kind of obligation to do so at all. It's a nice gesture for what must have been a miserable day.

Urban Hat€monger ? 11-23-2009 12:01 PM

Yeah imagine losing 9 : 1 AND having to go to a ground full of Spurs fan.

I expect the Tottenham bores to go on & on & on about how they're a big club now.

Actually lets be honest, they never really stopped doing it.

right-track 11-23-2009 12:10 PM

What are everyone's thoughts on technology helping with matters like the Ireland v. France game?

Urban Hat€monger ? 11-23-2009 12:12 PM

All you need is a challenge system,
A manager is allowed maybe one challenge in each half, they review the tape, if he is successful he gets to keep his challenge.

That way you can use technology but it doesn't keep stopping & starting the game.

Yeah I've been thinking about this for a while (pretty much since tennis introduced challenges) and I agree that it's probably the best way to stop match deciding errors occurring. Maybe not as high a one challenge per half, something like 5 per (league) season to stop players/managers from abusing the system a little and only challenging when absolutely certain. Also the challenge would have to be made instantly, like in tennis.

Also gives a use for the fourth official other than babysitting coaching staff and negates the need for the extra officials especially as there is a shortage already.

No, no, no, no.

You win some you lose some.

Chelsea vs Manchester United, Fletcher's tackle was perfectly fine, Drogba was offside, Terry was fouling someone like the awful cunt always does. (Even though Mr Chelsea was a boyhood Manchester United fan.)

But such is life, we'll get our luck in another game. Technology will slow it down and I don't want that.

right-track 11-24-2009 02:36 PM

There is one minute left of normal time in the Fiorentina v Lyon match. Unless Lyon score, Liverpool are out of the Champions League.

right-track 11-24-2009 02:53 PM

 Fiorentina 1 Lyon 0 :D

See, i can fully understand your reasoning and i wasn't always in favour of technology either but i think it's gone too far now. I think the "You win some, you lose some" reasoning only makes sense to a point. A bad decision can cost you but in a league season you have a game the following week and 38 of them in total. However can you really apply this same reasoning to say, a cup final? A bad decision in a cup final costs you, full stop. Theres no coming back from it.

I just think that when technology is readily available and players are happily, shamelessly diving and cheating and a countries progress into the world cup finals is being affected by blatant cheating and poor officiating, not just 3 league points, then there comes a time where it's just irresponsible not to start entertaining the idea.

I'm depressed at how mediocre City have been of late.We even drew to Hull, which really is a cause for alarm.

Bulldog 11-30-2009 05:53 PM

^ My lot lost to them - imagine how that felt!

loveissucide 11-30-2009 05:54 PM

Richest football team in the world and we cannot beat the mighty Hull and their tosser manager.Yet we're still ahead of Liverpool.

This is why I love football.

right-track 12-01-2009 11:36 AM

After having their plea for a replay refused, I see FIFA have turned down Ireland's latest bid to get back into the World Cup Finals by turning down their request to create a 33rd place.
While I agree that the Irish were hard done by with the handball incident surely they must realise that 33 is an odd number and hardly conducive to a tournament such as this.
And did they forget that they were drawing the match at the time?
Whats next in Ireland's desperate attempt to qualify for the World Cup Finals?
A visit to FIFA from Father Ted's, Mrs Doyle?

"Ah go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on..."

Mojo 12-01-2009 11:43 AM

I was reading that earlier too and thought the same thing. They aren't just gonna be handed a place in the finals. A replay i felt would have been fair as the teams were drawing at the time but once that gets rejected then thats about it, isnt it?

And i'm sorry but i couldn't resist...

League Cup semi final draw Man City V. Man United.

*wees

Mojo 12-02-2009 03:29 PM

Sounds good. I didnt see their game tonight do i dont know what team Wenger put out but i was surprised to see they got through.

right-track 12-02-2009 03:31 PM

Wenger refused to shake Hughes' hand at the final whistle.

Blackburn beating Chelski with 10 minutes to go in extra time.

Mojo 12-02-2009 03:35 PM

I did see the last few minutes but i was distracted. I thought thats what happened though. He went straight down the tunnel didnt he? I saw what looked like Sparky go to follow him and then think to hell with it.

right-track 12-02-2009 03:39 PM

Sounds like a thriller at Ewood 3-3 looking like penalties. :(

Can you believe it was 2 minutes added time in extra time!!!

Mojo 12-02-2009 03:44 PM

In what game? Sorry, as i said i was distracted so i'm not sure if you mean in the City game and ive just missed something here.

EDIT: I realised what you meant once as soon as id typed this.

jackhammer 12-02-2009 04:49 PM

I hope we get Blackburn in the semis for obvious reasons!

right-track 12-02-2009 04:50 PM

I didn't check the draws. I am a little behind! Good draw but I don't think we have enough to win it but on our day we are a match for anyone I guess.

right-track 12-02-2009 04:58 PM

If City get past United (providing he sticks with the kids) you have a great chance of beating City...

Astronomer 12-02-2009 05:12 PM

Oh I see what you mean, nonsubmissivewife.

;)

NSW 12-02-2009 05:15 PM

Why do I suddenly feel naked?

Sneer 12-02-2009 06:12 PM

Its getting to the point where i just wish Wenger would stop using kids in the cup and get us a god forsaken trophy.
