BBC Sport - Football - Stoke 3-1 Man City (aet)

Work tomorrow will be such good fun. :D

Dr.Seussicide 02-24-2010 03:53 PM

So Inter Milan has their foot in front of their Champion's League first leg match with Chelsea in the Round of 16 matches. Disappointing performance by Chelsea all round; however, they still managed to get that precious away goal.

The score at the end of the first leg:

Inter Milan 2 - 1 Chelsea

Inter Milan played at the San Siro, those bastards.

Looking forward to the ass kicking at the bridge - March 16th bitches. Mark that shit

watched the everton-sporting Lisbon game last night, everton got a using by a sporting team who trail benfica by 20 points, everton have beat the best 2 teams in England, in the last 2 weeks or so, this makes the rest of us Europeans think is the premiership as good as the hype, i personally don't think it is, i can't even be bothered to watch m.o.d. any more as it's very poor and this is supposed to be the edited highlights, i think glasgow rangers got a break not getting into the premiership.....

............and if they had, they would`ve been relegated after one season. So you`d be watching them playing in the Coca Cola Championship:D

Bulldog 02-26-2010 09:28 AM

I remember AC Milan drawing 2-2 with Pompey at Fratton Park last season, Pompey being a team that was in a relegation dogfight at the time, had basically been mid-table fodder for the rest of the Premiership before that and who'd only got into Europe on the back of a win over Cardiff City. Doesn't make me write off Serie A.

Urban Hat€monger ? 02-26-2010 09:50 AM

At least Sporting Lisbon have got European football pedigree.

Match rigging has always traditionally been part of the Italian game, so AC Milan like any other Italian team would have hardly been in any real turmoil.

Where you were humbled by a Russian outfit.

Face it goodfoot. The old firm would love to play in the premiership.
And it's still the PREMIER football league in Europe, second to non.
Best players, best average attendances, best stadiums and the most entertaining football.
For the last 5 years the Champions League final has been represented by an English club team.
Seems to me that despite looking through BLUE tinted glasses, you're actually GREEN with envy!

goodfoot 02-26-2010 11:37 AM

doesn't change the fact everton who by all accounts are one of the form teams in the greatest league in the world, were humbled by a sporting team, who are one game away from sacking their manager, and then the excuse of all excuses by dave watson, who i generally respect as a co commentator, "everton have had a hard month beating man u, chelsea," what better way to prepare for a european game, everton weren't just beaten, they got a footballing lesson, and that last goal, pure class,

I may never celebrate a City win as much again. My only concern is another Terry mistake (after allowing Milito to step inside too easily mid week), I might be reading too much into it but if England are to do well in the summer, we need him at his best.

goodfoot 02-28-2010 05:50 AM

all the goals in the chelsea- man city game, had one thing in common, tevez, bellamay, lampard, they all played for the hammer's...

Bulldog 02-28-2010 06:43 AM

And it's cup final day! For once, I have literally no idea how this could turn out - for me it's pretty much the definition of one of those that could just as easily go either way. Judging by the Villa's last showing in the semi, it should be an absolute belter of a match all the same, and it's been too long since I last saw one of those in a good atmosphere down the pub, so I can't wait 'til kick-off.

They also had another thing in common.....no Scots on show either! They`re just not capable of playing at this level.

I sit in hope.

When you enter a pub or party and open your mouth to express your opinions, do people cringe and cower away from you?

Scratch that, it was one the most boring cup finals I've ever watched.

Well done Man U though - well-deserved win overall.

right-track 03-01-2010 12:58 PM

Not sending Vidic off did Villa a favour.
It saved them from failing to beat a United team with only 10 men...Again! :D

I second that. Possibly the most boring cup match I have watched, wasn't even the best game of the weekend, nor second.

Everton and Spurs was quite a belter. Well dont to the boys for getting to the final, the Man U factor caught us bad yesterday! Next year ;)

jackhammer 03-07-2010 04:20 PM

Great game today Villa V Reading and great comeback but we had to get Chelsea in the semis didn't we? :( Reading deserved more though, they played really well.

Bulldog 03-07-2010 05:13 PM

The way I see it, if my lot can beat Chelski anyone can.

Speaking of Wigan, I'm preparing myself mentally for yet another depressing result tomorrow evening...

Fantastic result, and the second member of the big four we've toppled this season. Still, I won't be convinced it's not delaying the inevitable 'til we can string more than one bloody win together.

Also, on that showing, selling Xabi Alonso is looking like just about the worst bit of business in football history.

zeppy111 03-08-2010 09:31 PM

Hell yes to Wigan!

Even thought I don't see us (aston Villa) finishing top 4, results like last night sure do help our cause.

RODALLEGA! :)

Stinkfist 03-09-2010 03:43 AM

Well done to the latics had a feeling they would get up, Liverpool look very thin at the back at the moment.

I don't care if villa finish top 4 just hope they finish 6th and keep the dirty scousers out of Europa.

United 2-0 Milan tommorow night. Scholesy and berba to do the business.

I care because not only will the dirty scousers lose out on a European place...so will the bittermen.

Up the Villa!

...and Spurs.

TheCunningStunt 03-09-2010 05:38 PM

^

I hope either Villa and Spurs get 4th, but if it comes down to City vs Liverpool, I hope the bitters get it.

Despite the fact they'll give it gob about how they're gonna be the top dogs in Manchester.

Congrats mate. Always great to see Bolton Wandererzzzzzzz get royally minced too - nice one Brucey :D

Stinkfist 03-10-2010 07:35 AM

9 games left

what do you think were the best and worst transfers this year?

For me the best move has to be Bent to Sunderland. Even before last nights hat trick he's been quality for the black cats all year, and Valencia is gonna be a quality investment by fergie. Worst moves were, as stated above xabi, and glen Johnson.

The Fascinating Turnip 03-10-2010 07:47 AM

Arsenal 5 - 0 Porto
I don't know if i should feel extremely happy or a bit sad.
